I enjoyed this (both) immensely. You can really pack a wallop when you want, can't you. Loved both poem and have copy the 'A selection of Epigrams for your enjoyment' and pasted it in my to do list. I found this both well written and such fun to read. As I have said, I will leave critiquing of the form to those that know what they are doing and stay with my area of comfort, telling you how much I liked this one. I am off to read one more and will try to finish catching up within the next few days.

I got hooked on one of the epigrams that Blake wrote and decided I needed to try one (or two) too! What struck me the most about this style is that so many of the famous poets wrote them. Some were only two lines long, some rhymed, some didn't. Most ranged from 4 to 8 lines long. Thanks for taking the time to read all of these today. I'm happy that your are enjoying the selections in my book.

Thank you for sharing these two epigrams. The first was very cute, and the second was cute, but dealt with the political scene. It can't be helped, we are watching these scenes daily, but I wish there was a way to shut it out. However, your poem captured the mood quite well,

Hi Patty,
Politics was a topic of the epigrams of old, therefore I made it mine for the day. I try to shut it out, too. Thanks for the great review. I appreciate your time and comments.

Epigram Poem. Now I need to write one. You have inspired me. Thank you for posting this poem. Like the subject matter of both. They both flow well and word choice is good.

Hi Rlegel,
I was surprised to find that so many of the famous poets of old wrote them. Of course, I then had to write one, too. Thanks for the great review.

The art work is great.
Yes unfortunately money is very
important as we can not live without it
some have too much though
they don't care about others
within life and take and not care to give.

Hi Alf,
The second doesn't comply... hence the 'almost' in the title lol However, it is intentional, per the line alluding, 'as illustration of them taking too long (to get us affordable health care) this poem has grown too long to be an epigram. I'm glad you enjoyed the humor. I was surprised to discover how many of the famous poets of old wrote epigrams, so I thought I'd have some fun with it. Thanks for the fun review.

Well, how true is this??? Especially that, if they're not willing to go by the insurance bill they pass, don't pass it on to us!! I love this, amusing, yet so very apt! Quite wonderful, blessings...

The first poem seems more like it fits the form. I like how you use clothes as the way to tell your favorite season. The last couplet fits the form too, being satirical.
The second one is too long to be an epigram. Is that why you call it an almost epigram?

Hi dragonpoet:
Yes, that's why I called the second one 'almost' an epigram and included the line alluding to the fact that the politicians have taken too long to fix healthcare, that in illustration, my poem is now too long to be an epigram.
Thanks for taking the time to read and review.

Hi Lindagail,
I'm happy that you enjoyed this selection. I've actually never tried an epigram before. I was amazed at how many of the famous poets of old wrote them. They are steeped in the roots of poetry, so how could I not? Thanks for taking the time to read and review. Your comments are fantastic and well appreciated.

Hi Debbie,
I'm thinking that I'll use it for Potlatch one of the weeks in May. I was most delighted to discover that so many of the famous poets of old used this style. There is a vast collection of their work out there to read. I hope you'll follow the link in the author's notes and check it out. There is some really great stuff there! Thanks for the lovely review.

This is a terrific poem. I thought epigrams were run-on sentences. You definitely did some great research. The author notes are fantastic. You are loving and patriotic. Good flow of rhythm and rhymes. Nice work.

Hi Sunni,
Thanks for the fantastic comments and exceptional rating. I love to research when I'm doing NaPo, so many styles to learn. I'll pop over and check out your book, too. I was surprised to find so many of the famous poets of old wrote epigrams. The form is literally ancient. I just couldn't pass it up. I appreciate you stopping by.
