You gave me a lot to digest in one post. The poem is awesome and speak my thoughts superbly. Your notes, as always, are a lot to digest in one sitting. I will have to go back and re-read them several times. I am so impressed with your vast knowledge and ability to write such marvelous poetry. Thank you so much for sharing your love of poetry with us, especially me, since I have so much to learn.

I am deliberately choosing my topics to reflect poets or art that many won't be familiar with or trying to come up with a unique thought on the styles of the ones that may be more popular. This is all new research to me. I think it is what I enjoy most about this project. I'm learning new things and sharing with others. It makes me happy. Thank you for all the time you've spent reading and reviewing me today. I'm thrilled that you are enjoying the selections.

Hi Alf,
The Villanelle is one of my favorite forms. I love the rhymes and the refrain lines. Thank you for a lovely review.

Thank you for sharing your research about Auden and sharing this well formed poem with us. The words say a lot about how you feel in leaving a legacy that is filled with truly helping people. Spending too much time with any 'screen' keeps us from true interactions.

Speaking of Auden and Icarus is of their opinion, views and philosophy of living as reflected in writing; critically and confidently viewed in tech perspective today; I liked, enjoyed.

Interesting poem about being to busy with our own lives that life itself is ignored or missed. Liked the way you presented this. Thanks for sharing this poem on an important subject.

Kim,
I enjoyed your villanelle. Your words flow well. I did not realize this was that form until I read the notes. Yes, I saw/read the repeating lines, but they just fit in so well, I kept reading & absorbing the meaning.
This style worked well for your thoughts. I really like the art, too.
Your notes are great. It is evident that you researched a great deal before you wrote this poem. I commend you for that aspect.
Good job & thanks for sharing. Jan

Hi Jan,
Auden's poems just really clicked with me yesterday. I knew of him but hadn't really read him prior to that. I'm really glad you enjoyed this selection. I appreciate the wonderful comments. I just started out with the intention of writing a villanelle, I love those! It grew from there.

I have always liked this painting. I am something of a Brueghel fan but there is the ploughman, present at the first recorded air crash and he doesn't even look up from his work. I carus was a complete loser and even making history like that he couldn't cause a stir.
Well done with the villanelle you chose your words well.

Hi Pantygynt:
I was already toying with the idea and you played into my inspiration with your fine villanelle yesterday, thank you. :) I appreciate the wonderful comments. I was previously acquainted with Icarus, but it was the first time I'd met Breughel, the ploughman, and Auden (other than cursory, in passing.)

Hi Kerry,
I'm glad you enjoyed the poem enough to want the history of those involved. That's why I like to write the author's notes I include. Thanks for the great comments.

Wow Kim, an exceptional Villanelle, well done.
Am I afflicted wit DE-sensitivity
when crisis comes to call, have I built up a wall
To me they are the crux of this write, and yes I suppose we have all become a bit that way, we try to block it out and just get on.
cheers,
