So then a calepin is very much like the book you received as a gift out of which you glean your inspiration. So it could be a kind of meta poem if it were going to mention the fact it is about itself.

Indeed. I had actually thought about making the poem about the book. I don't recall why I chose the Scrabble option, but I'm sure there was a reason :) Many thanks, Craig

I'm getting an education, reading your poetry since you got that Christmas present. :) I always though I had a half-decent vocabulary, but now I'm discovering that belief is just one more part of my self-delusion. (LOL) (You're doing an amazing job of coming up with something to use these weird words. LOL)

And the funny thing is, a year from now, I'll probably have forgotten 9/10 of them. Hell, I have enough trouble remembering..... what was I saying? Thanks for the lovely review :) Cheers, Craig

Nice job with this short poem. Light theme, limerick beat-- fun and it carries observational truths. Pleasing pace, I also liked the stable punctuation.
In this day and age, a squabble over scrabble leads to three or four phones coming out. Hey... that dictionary isn't scrabble kosher!
Playing to win, ha! I played a game of memory yesterday, and it got a bit heated on whose turn it was with my four year old taking advantage of me being distracted to take an extra turn. I didn't know it was going to be cut throat memory!

Nice job with this short poem. Light theme, limerick beat-- fun and it carries observational truths. Pleasing pace, I also liked the stable punctuation.

LOL Don't they learn fast these days? It took us a while to convince her parents that making up not only words but rules as you went along wasn't really in the spirit of the game, but all in good fun. Thanks, Turtle.

Calepin, that's a strange word. When I play scrabble online, or words with friends, I google scrabble and it takes me to a site that gives me a list of words to try. Maybe we can call that cheatsortofpin. I love getting a bingo in scrabble. It's my superpower that I do without cheating. Bingo in scrabble is when you use all your tiles for a nice big word and get nice big points for it.

I get them from time to time too - usually when the only place on the board I can join it to has six available spaces :-(

A very well-written poem. We all like to play games with friends, but it can get boring when it is always the same person winning all the time. It will be a great advantage when we know words no one else knows about.

Yes! I have had many a battle on the scrabble board with family! He he he, it's a fun game and can take hours to complete a game, but always remembered with fond memories, loving your new word for dictionary, love Dolly x

I can't stand the online versions, for the ludicrous spellings (and not just accounted for by American/British variations), and the ridiculous words they do/don't allow. Still, there's not much alternative when your opponent is thousands of miles away :)

Pixie Pit has a good Scrabble game. We do it by email. I've never had it refuse a word, so this one is pretty good. It costs $10 for an entire year, which is cheap. They have dozens of player rooms going at the same time, and you choose a room and 2 to 4 players. I think with email, it's best with two.

Thanks very much, Jan. I like Scrabble, the board game. Not the online versions. It was touch and go playing it with the out-laws, until we convinced them they can't make up words and rules as they go along :) Cheers, Craig

haha there's a new monopoly game something like Monopoly for Cheaters. The object is to try & get away with cheating in a game as much as possible.

I checked two different audibles, they both appeared to be saying kale-pin. It's quite complicated, though, because the word has Italian origins, but there is a French version as well (perhaps you already knew that). The French, I think, simply means "notebook", which is slightly different from the meaning given in my book. I suspect none of the English audios out there are right, but what's a guy to do? I only know two languages - English, and gutter English :)
