I think that's exactly what they'd think. What the hell are they doing when there's so much beauty surrounding them. This is a great topic for your word - hubbleshow - I guess, like you say in your notes it had to be a space write. Well done Craig, enjoyed this day's poem.
cheers,
valda

Hey, Craig.
Read through this, too. Really nice, strong contemplation and read aloud, the words ... sounds, and flow are smooth and reflective. Presentation, points, and theme all harmonically intertwined in this poem.
I appreciated the use of hubbleshow, and tying it back to the hubble telescope.
I was listening to a song the other day... was surprised, because it's a newer song, and its theme was saying that the singer believed most people were good. A nice hope, that there's lots and lots of people, and a want to believe that there's more good than not... but in the need to keep check on all that's so very not good, which is a lot, we focus on it.
To not focus on it is to ignore issues that desperately need to be dealt with. In this poem, it takes an aspect of good, our WANT to see things beyond ourselves. All the innovation and cooperation it took to get something like the hubble out there, so we can get a clear look at things hard too see. If we could only harness and turn some of that need to extend beyond, and direct it at the broken mystery's within.
Also like the shame aspect too. There is power in external shame. Like being embarressed if someone comes over that you don't know... and you failed to clean the kitchen table of last night's pizza boxes. The external, what would an outsider looking in think... feeling gets well utilized here.
Nice job.

Thanks very much for the lovely, comprehensive review, Turtle. I think that person is right. Most people aren't inherently evil (despite what some would tell us - that everyone is). But, to use a somewhat overworked metaphor, it only takes one bad apple to spoil a bunch. A few bad people can cause a lot of strife - and taint the actions and attitudes of others along the way. Most grateful, as always - Craig

Your hubble bubble sheds light on the program I saw yesterday about space debris
knocking things out of shape.
and back to earth . count your blessings in lands bereft of war .

We don't have to be at war to see examples of senseless violence and people treating each other badly - but I guess it helps.

This is a very interesting poem you have penned. You used very good descriptive words and very good imagery with the art work. Blessings, Teri

It is a fortuitous ploy the Hubble telescope and the 'hubbleshow' word of the day. It is a good sonnet. When the reader is asked to ascribe emotion to the telescope however, the reader must pause and consider if, even as an extension of eyesight,
its real or phony.

Anthropomorphism. Cheers, Craig.

slightly paranoid for a reader considering the place of eyesight in terms of spirit

I like the word 'hubbleshow.' However, I don't like what the 'hubbleshow' connotates--the useless and destructive rioting that turns people off to some otherwise valid cause, while destroying private property. I like the idea of choosing a word-a-day to write about. Your poem is timely and rhymes well. Marilyn

Thanks so much, Marilyn. I wavered over using that picture, as I didn't want people to imagine I was talking about particular riot incidents; more about the constant rioting, fighting and bickering that is part of everyday life as a human. Appreciation, Craig

A very well-written poem about the word hubbleshow that means a noisy uproar. We have the last week uproar and blocking of roads in our area. To look at it from the outside it seems like craziness.

Very very well done sonnet using the words and the ideas brought with them. I do believe we are always watched in one form or another so nothing escapes the view. Excellent rhyme and flow

I just love the the word "hubbleshow". It immediately brings to mind Hubble Spacecraft. I can see why your muse went to "the eye in the sky".
Your poem leaves a strong imprint on your reader, Craig. It is so true. What would aliens think of Man's behaviour, specifically if they saw them fighting or destroying things or one another?
Your poem is well written and I especially loved your strong closing couplet ...
Would it lament what's going on below -- this pointless, futile, angry hubbleshow?" Well done, Craig! ~~ Connie

Would it lament what's going on below--
this pointless, angry, futile hubbleshow?
That's what it's becoming. Humans have the ability for rational thought, analysis of facts to aid in decision making, unlike all other animals, yet the so-called "lower" animals do far less damage to one another, with the exception of having to eat one or two now and then, just as we eat cows and pigs. They don't kill for sport, ego, and dare I say FUN? That mob in the picture? Those stupid kids have no reason for what they're doing. They think it's fun. Just as the gangbangers in the inner city waving guns at each other. But unlike my generation, they are not cap pistols.
Personally, I think the human race has had its chance and failed. With each younger generation, societal standards break down more, and we're becoming a frightening, dangerous scourge on the planet.

I can certainly agree with much of the above, especially "we're becoming a frightening, dangerous scourge on the planet."
