Hey, Craig...
I'm playing some catchup. Read through this poem and really enjoyed it.

kudos alone for rhyming covfefe in a sentence and making it coherent in context. I thought that was pretty much brilliant there.

The slice of wit along with the deeper, story in a poem observations all merged in a flowing way.

History repeats, and lessons in choosing your leaders well doesn't goes out of style.

Good word in escry. I think the real word of the day here is, "covfefe". What the heck? Where did that word come from? What does it mean?

Hi Joy,

I'm confused. If you can point to a line which isn't strict iambic pentameter, I'll gladly change it. The only possible one I can see is the opening one, but if you de-emphasise the "i" sound (clar-yon) , I believe it works ok.

If you want to know what covfefe means, you'll have to ask the US President - he invented it. Google would provide a lot more information.

I read something about your horrible week, Joy. But as requested, I didn't comment. I'm sorry such an awful thing happened to you, I would be mortified if that happened to me.

As for the meter thing, I just assumed I'd stuffed up, but couldn't see where, so was looking for some advice. Thanks again, Craig.

Looking back now I see your meter is really good. I would pronounce clarion and onlookers differently, but different dialects are perfectly acceptable. I apologize for floundering with the meter in my initial read through. The fault is totally mine.

No, covfefe is a word conjured by the US President in one of his famous tweets. Maybe it will make it into the next edition of the book? Thanks for reviewing! Craig

A most apt poem, Craig. If it weren't so utterly heartbreaking and depressing to see the destruction of a once great nation from within its own ranks I would observe this phenomenon with interest. I probably will get to that point of indifference eventually, but in the meantime I continue to grieve the death of a nation.

Well now, isn't this a clever write! This is a great satirical poem, Craig, and a terrific approach to introducing the word "escry" to your readers. Love your subtle jab at Trump with "covfefe". :) "Escry" I knew of, but personally have never used the word. "Sheeples" is a scream! A great word that I will use. "and next we'll conjure water into wine" ... I love that you included this biblical reference. It lends an 'old world' aura to your poem. "bite the dust" made me laugh.

I like the "sheeples" as I conjure it up to be a combination of sheep and people!

And when all is fake, their truth and his lies as well, then simply pay better liars to turn everything into alternative facts - et voila!

Nepotism - he said it straight out on camera (Jeez, the man can speak the truth after all!) "Nepotism is a great thing; I like nepotism." And this, not from, some despot in the South Seas Islands but the man with a finger on The Bomb...

I love the term "sheeples" too, although I can't claim credit for inventing it. People of a certain demographic (the type most likely to have wet dreams over Trump being in charge) seem to like to use it to refer anyone who has an opinion which differs from their own. Ironically it is exactly those people whose behaviour most closely resembles that which they are trying to describe.
