I like this theme, the strip tease... though not limited to women to perform, is presented here in the historical reference.
I'm sure the first strip tease came some short time after the invention of clothes. : D
Easy to read acrostic, I enjoyed reading. I had a lot of random thoughts through the poem ... the controversy if the strip tease is demeaning or empowering, lewd or art, a sinking ship of morals, or a casting aside of infantile inability to appreciate physical beauty without repressing it into its base parts.
The slow push at the envelop of what's taboo.

I'm sure you're right, Turtle, as to when the striptease actually came about. Many thanks for the interesting and well-considered review. Cheers, Craig

A great acrostic on this very unusual word Craig about this old art of striptease. And you're right, very sinful indeed in 1898 but today I doubt anyone thinks so.Going well with all your strange words,
cheers,

Thanks again, Valda :) No, it's come quite a way since 100+ years ago. Cheers, Craig
Comment from Gloria ....
Where in the world did you ever find that Vintage photograph? It's so vividly clear and natural and a work of art.
So that's what they call a striptease artist, ecdysiast. I guess it makes sense.
Very nicely written acrostic too with most unique colour choices.
Very much enjoyed this one, Craig. :)

Unique colour choices - I know how to interpret that... "are you colour blind? That's disgusting!" LOL - I admit it, I'm hopeless when it comes to anything artistic whatsoever. The picture I just found through Google Images, if you save it and drop it onto the GI page, it will probably find it for you. I'm glad you liked it, thanks for the great review :) Craig

I enjoyed reading this. As a woman, I see nothing wrong with striptease whether on the stage or in the bedroom as long as it's voluntary and not coerced. Thanks for teaching a new word. Marilyn

There we go, another point on which we agree. Of course, it's not to be unexpected that I would concur lol
Many thanks, Marilyn.

Hi Craig,
Now there's an impressive word. Pronouncing it is a challenge. Spelling it would be a nightmare for me lol! The strippers have a history. I thought it was something they always did? Who knew? I've heard them called the local ballet at the pub. Or something along those lines. Nicely done acrostic.
- "some think the ladies headed for a fall" - ladie's as in lady is?

Hi Joy, no - ladies, plural. Another way to say it would be "some think the ladies ARE headed for a fall", but Brits (and we copycat Aussies) will often omit the "are", because we're lazy :) Like you, I'm pretty sure stripping existed before the 19th century. That's what I added "confirmed" to the description in the book. Cheers, Craig

No big deal today, but then? Wow! Sin, Sin, Sin, I tell you. Satan is using women to corrupt good men. Today, nudity is on TV. Never thought I'd see that!

I think nudity on TV reached its peak in the 70s here - there was quite a bit of full frontal then. We seem to have become more conservative in the intervening decades, at least as far as our TV goes.
Comment from Sandra du Plessis
A very well-written acrostic poem about the exotic dancers getting rid of their clothes while dancing on a stage. It seems to be a great treat for most men to watch the routine.

And, surprisingly, a few women lol The strippers of the 19th century were a lot more modest than today's. Thanks, Sandra.

This is a well written acrostic poem you have penned. You used very good descriptive words and very good imagery that portrays your words. I think it is sad that a woman feels she has to do that either to make a living or entice men! Blessings, Teri

Thanks, Teri, for the kind words. I'm quite sure the practice goes back a long way before the 19th century. That's just the first time someone thought to give the performer a name. Cheers, Craig

Stripteasing is harmless titilation! Yes I agree, men enjoy it and the females like showing their beautiful bodies, so I am not at all offended in fact I think it is amazing how fascinated men are with the female form and long may it continue, your acrostic is great, and another word in the bag! A kinda word than stripper! Love Dolly x

Well, I'll go a step further - I don't see anything to be ashamed of in the word "stripper" :) Many thanks for the lovely review, Dolly. Cheers, Craig

This speaks about the striptease performers (exotic dancers) of France; and their passion at par with the need of the hour (standards of today); well written, well done. B A CHANGE INSPIRER-WRITER -- DR ALCREATOR
