Nice job with this Limerick, Craig, I enjoyed reading.

The winner gets a legup on writing history, and the underdog gets a boost, usually reality isn't so black and white. The villain isn't wearing a black cape and a mustache so everyone knows who he is, in reality. Sometimes, it's just people serving their own wants and each side thinks they are the victim.

I like this limerick theme. The tone shows how easy it can be to redirect history by reframing the situation. None of your assertions would seem outlandish to me no matter who I might think should have won. (which, shame on my, I'm a bit rusty on my history with this

A captain is in charge... to mutiny is an act of rebellion... be it deemed needed or not, be it a 'good' rebellion or a 'bad' rebellion. The captain, to stand his ground in such a situation, would have to be brave (even if that bravery is mixed in with ego or ruthlessness or any such thing)

I enjoyed how ... given a blank slate to start, impressions form just by word choice.

I guess the devil's in the detail when judging who gets the higher ground sticker. Messy situations get simplified.

I'm glad to hear Captain Bligh exonerated. He wasn't so bad after all. The ship depends on the captain to keep men obeying orders, and when they don't, all the men aboard are in danger. It's the captain's job to prevent that at all costs. I'll have to watch the old movie again and see if I can find sympathy for the old captain. :)

Hey Craig, a perfectly written Limerick and excellent play on words to make your point. And Mel Gibson was so cute in his role as Fletcher Christian's master mate. Try saying that tongue twister without a trip up.

Hi Craig. This is a well known story that I enjoy watching over and over. Mutine is a great word and your poem uses it well. An enjoyable poem on a historic event. I don't think Bligh was a compassionate person, but he was a leader and did what was necessary in those dangerous sailing days. He accomplished a remarkable feat getting his lifeboat crew back to safety. Marilyn
