Hi, Craig;
I can see the need for a paragrandine. When I was living in New Mexico, the USA for two really long years, we had hail storms where the hail was the size of softballs. SO many people would have to have their cars fixed AND the mobile home roofs were punched right through!
Thank you for sharing another word with us,

Thanks, Patty. That sounds scary, I wouldn't want to be conked on the head by one. Your comments are gratefully received :) Craig

Hey, Craig,
Read through this poem too, I stumbled around trying to find the where to put the right emphasis on the first sentence to feel the limerick beat, but I think I eventually found them, as is.
Though, to give you the words that kept popping into my head for that first line... because I'm probably off on another page with which words are emphasized and how to properly pronounce paragrandine. par-a-grand-deen? pa-ra-
I have no need for a paragrandine--
in these parts, hail is not often seen.
(Not suggesting any changes, more like sharing my stumbling around)
I like the end line. Kind of made me thing of bare naked ladies and the song: if I had a million dollars. A lyric used by them to dis the color green.
If I had a million dollars, I would by you a green dress
(but not a real green dress that's cruel)
--Not sure if you've ever heard that silly song, but the joke is they earlier in the song mentioned buying a fur coat... (but not a real fur coat ... that's cruel)
Not sure why green gets such the shun. (guess Kermit got it right, it ain't easy being green)

Well, I kind of lied - sort of. The one and only genuinely new car I've ever owned was green - a dark metallic green, which I thought was rather nice. As for any sort of light green or lime - no thanks, not for me! Thanks for the great review, Turtle :) Craig

A very well-written Limerick, in a hailstorm it is not my choice to be in a motor car at all. My car was parked outside while I was working during a hailstorm. The damage was R12 000 to fix.

Yikes, that's not good Sandra. I remember after one particularly bad hail storm here, motor dealers across the state had people lining up - literally. You could drive your car in one gate, have it written off and collect the insurance, and walk out another gate. Cheers, Craig

Something new to me... looks like an umbrella for cars. I can see how they'd be popular in Wyoming or Montana. When we were there, hail would strike for ten minutes about four times a day. Weird weather, needing an even weirder invention. :)

Thanks, Phyllis. Not sure I'd be keen to live in either of those places if I didn't have good shelter for my cars. Cheers, Craig

Man alive this new word of yours almost sounds like a Lincoln Town Car or a Grand Marquis. It's about time you two upgraded your vehicles because you don't want to get stuck on the side of the road somewhere.
Very fun Craig and a new word I stand no chance of remembering. :)

What an interesting word, Craig. You are right. Who thunk it up? Good job on your limerick. You did a great job with the rhymes. Here, we would need that contraption maybe 1 or 2 times. We don't get a lot of hail but when it does hit, the hailstones can be huge. Good job with your selection from your great gift. I enjoyed reading it. Thanks for the informative author notes. Jan

Thanks for the lovely review, Jan. We have a similar experience here. We don't often get hail, but when we do, it's usually a good idea to dive for cover. Much appreciated - Craig

Hello, what an awkward word you've managed to weave into your poem. Good job!! I think this is interesting and I don't like the color green in cars, either. I don't know why it just doesn't suit them. LOL
Another good addition to your writing and thanks for sharing it, Ana.

Another cool new word, paragrandine. And it fits into your cute little verse nicely.
Well done and thank you for sharing the word and verse with us.

Hi Craig,
This is an excellent limerick to showcase the word "paragrandine". Good rhyming and a nice flow to it.
This is a new word for this reader. I googled to see what a paragrandine looks like. I don't think I've ever seen one before, and yet we do get some freak hail storms in Calgary in the summer time. I've seen hail the size of golf balls. Luckily our cars never sustained damage, but our homes have ... on numerous occasions. I hope that you and your other half each found nice, new, non-green vehicles. :-) ~~ Connie

Hi Connie, Jayne got a nice little new red one (because we all know they go faster), and I got a preloved white one. Green was avoided lol. Thanks for the lovely review :) Craig
Comment from Joy Graham
I'm so thankful you aren't getting green cars. Not my favorite color at all. It's okay for grass and lettuce, but that's it. Oh and I like green lights as opposed to red lights. I need to earn an income so I can buy a new car too. This is a fun poem today, Craig :) We get lots of hail storms here so maybe I should google that contraption you speak of.

Thanks for the lovely review, Joy. Strangely, the first (and only) brand new car I ever owned was green, and I quite liked it. It was a dark, metallic green which I found quite OK. But in general, I'm not fond of green for cars. This time, I got a white tipper, and Jayne got a red number, because as everyone knows, they go faster :) Cheers, Craig.

Okay, what is a white tipper?
-
It's a tray-top (or table-top, or flat-bed - I'm not sure what they are called in your parts), with a pneumatic ram that can tilt the tray. Some people call them 'dump trucks', I think. And it's white lol
