A perfect spot you found for this unusual word Craig. Yes the night sky is far more wondrous when you are away from the big city lights. The one I remember most is one night in Uluru. Lovely rhyming poetry about the 'wondrous star-filled sky'.
cheers,
valda

I've never been there, but I hope to make it one day, Valda. That's if you can still get close enough to enjoy it (not that I want to climb it, but to stand at the foot would be awesome, I imagine). Thanks for the fantastic rating and comments - Craig

A beautifully composed and thoughtfully rendered work, you've taken on the mantle of the wordsmith in ypthis finely tuned work. The work is eloquent with being overbearing, the substance has depth, and travels eloquently to its literary conclusion with articulate purpose, well done, blessings, Roy
I've had trouble with the 'au' sounds and 'or' sounds with Americans too, well done, blessings, Roy

Very well done! This is full of good imagery, strong rhythm and solid rhyme (once you explained "port", "caught" and Australian ears). Your poem actually takes one on a little journey through the night, culminating with, "...together we can contemplate the shining of the moon." This is a great line, perfectly placed at the end of a very good poem. Great writing!

I was drawn to read by title and picture but your words transported me and held me captive in the world you created. Nicely done, even to these American ears. Thank you for sharing such a beautiful piece. Jennifer

I love that picture, and your poem is so beautiful. I'm sorry to be out of sixes. I spent them all. What a crazy word. My mind hears the Lucy part. It's like naming the moon Lucy :) I love star gazing when the weather is warm and not thirty below zero. I love your description, "the dazzling blanket up above, the jewel-encrusted sky". Just lovely.

This is such a lovely poem and so filled with descriptive words and the imagery can put the reader right there. I enjoyed the rhyming pattern throughout--and that beautiful shining moon!

Hi, Craig,
This is a lovely poem. You presented it well, and the rhyming pattern was pleasant. (I figured the rhyming of port and caught had to be an Australian thing.)
Another new word to use in stories about the moonlit nights. Thank you for sharing,
~patty~

Of course it's an Aussie thing. If I meant "cot", I'd type "cot" ;-)
Hehe, such a stirrer - sorry.
Thanks again for the continued support, Patty :)

This is really an outstanding poem... I loved everything about it... the dreamy, surreal picture drew me in to bathe in the moonlight...there are so many great lines: "...it lights the midnight dance of waves along the waterfront..." and "...the dazzling blanket up above, the jewel-encrusted sky,
the meteors and comets as they silently race by..." your words harmonize and flow effortlessly across the page, reflecting the mood and tone of your picture... outstanding!
