Rant on - I agree with you. (See? I'm with you- HAHAHAHA!)That said, on to the poem, and this lovely word. (I am rolling it around in my mouth, and it tastes like ice cream- oh wait! No. That's the ice cream cone Prissy and I just ate. lol)
"The simple truth is, no one wins a fight." (That's why Prissy gets ice cream. LOL)
You're Wrong, I'm Right

Sometimes the only way to see the light
is through a good-ol-fashioned, 'dirty' fight.
But oh, my friend, the making up is sweet!
Still 'dirty', but a fine, delicious treat. (*grin* *snicker* *I win*)

My fellow inmates of the monastery and I have no idea what your poem means, Dawn - but we think it's fun anyway ;-)
Thanks for a delightful review. Craig

Hi Craig, interesting thoughts. We are evolutionarily social animals, which is the reason for our success as a species. We can organize and maximize our resources. However, with limited resources, we inevitably encounter conflicts with other tribes. This is an innate problem that can only be managed and not solved. We need to balance our allegiance to self and the various communities at large--including the species on Earth. I wholeheartedly agree with your thoughts on this.

I have a suspicion there may be solutions, it's just that we don't find them palatable, for some reason. Population control would be one that immediately comes to mind. Many thanks for the thoughtful review, Pam.

I liked your rant. That is why communism would never work. People do not want to be equal. Some want to feel superior. Those go to war and take what they need to feel superiornnit is disgusting. However..,, when I worked at my IT job, I was considered a super star. It only meant that I had to help everyone else, this having to work harder than everyone else. Everyone on the project got the same awards if there were any for the project. That award meant nothing to me. Because everyone got it no matter what they did which was sometimes nothing. So, in that regard, it IS communism. Thank you for sharing

Thanks for the thoughtful comments from a fellow ex-IT guru. Most appreciated - Craig.

Craig, This is a very well written and well worded poem. There is no reason for hatred and being mean and evil to each other, but we as humans tend to do that. Just think if we were all kind and caring as we should be there would be no fights or wars. Great job. Blessings, Teri

Hi, Craig,
Wouldn't it be wonderful if the great Doctors of our time would work out a way to identify the part of DNA that causes us to be so intent on picking a side? Could it be some type of genetic defect that makes us prone to war?
Or, is it simply human nature - something that comes naturally whether you are from Europe or the Land Down Under?

People are people everywhere, Patty. I've never been one to subscribe to the theory that one country is better than another, or that its people are superior, or for that matter inferior. Some people need to feel superior to think they have worth. Sadly, the stupid gene appears to affect a very sizeable proportion of the global population. Mostly, it seems to play out in wanting what others have, and not wanting them to have what we do. Cheers, Craig

It is a curious thing, to see the way people, in general, behave. I've often thought that the only reason people join hate groups is so that they'll be accepted when screaming in public. I'm sure most have no idea what they're really screaming about or who it is they really want to lash out at.

You might well be right there, Brenda. Mob mentality is a scary and depressing thing. Many thanks, Craig

I agree, it seems that stupidity runs rampant through humnity today. The smallest, most insignificant things cause us to attack and hate. Good job using your word-of-the-day. It's a new one for me as well. Thanks for sharing your work!

Well said, Craig. I like your poetic language and the message of the poem. But that picture is making me want to fight those hateful people. It's a shame that they are cursing in the name of God Who is Love!
I especially liked the line, "its tendrils threaded deep throughout our brain." But in observing the cats (four) next door, I think they very Marvortian with each other.

Our dogs got a bit Marvortian a few minutes ago when they both discovered a discarded cup cake wrapper. Still, they don't claim to be civilised. Cheers, Craig
Comment from Gloria ....
As a species we have learned nothing. We still act from our basest, reptilian brain instincts and because we have language we write in books we deem ourselves superior to other animals. It sickens me to see that disgusting poster, "Thank God for AIDS". Really? My best friend's son died at age 10 from AIDS because he was born a hemophiliac and needed blood transfusions throughout his entire short, sweet life, and we should thank God for that? Pffft. Stupid, thoughtless, vicious, evil man. People rarely think outside their own self-centred experience.
Anyway great poem in fine metre and I hold little hope for humanity because I feel we will never learn how to use our brains properly.

Thanks very much for the supportive comments, Gloria. I'm terribly sorry to hear of your friend's son. No doubt those in the picture would claim that was some sort of retribution for some alleged failing of the parents. People just astound me. Anyway, thanks for the fine review - Craig

A very well written piece on the division that exists in America and how we need to come together because, as you said, "no one wins a fight." I like that it starts off with a question forcing the reader to ponder their own prejudices and irrational hate. Thank you for sharing.

Thank you very much for the kind and thoughtful comments. Not only in America, it appears to be becoming something of a global phenomenon, though certainly it is terribly noticeable in the US. Much appreciated - Craig
