This is another very new word to me you have written about. I realize by reading your work that I must be a very boring person these days. You did a very good job presenting this word to us. Blessings, Teri

I don't know why you'd say that, Teri - sounds to me like you have an actioned-packed life. Thanks for the great review, and have a wonderful weekend. Craig

Hi Craig
That first word is a real T-Rex- I wonder how many people know what it means?
The two Limerics are perfect well crafted.
and I detect a sense of humourous outlook on chasing strange runaway words.
I waise man will say:
A Limerick a day will keep the doctor away.
Two limerics a day will keep the wife away.. :-))Z.

Luckily I was there with the rest of the dinosaurs when they invented it :) I wish I'd discovered the 2-limerick thing about 18 years earlier - now you tell me! Many thanks once again.
Comment from Gloria ....
There! I said it. How long do I have to wait until something happens? An excellent acrostic, Craig and I haven't encountered one single opiniatre around here at all, have you?
Much enjoyed.

Nada, Gloria. I wouldn't even know where to go looking for one -- but I'm sure they must exist, the poem says so.
Many thanks :)

This acrostic, OPINIATRES, follows the verticals theme and spotlights the verbose opinionated person who has two cents to offer for any subject..........

LOL Was that a reference to the remuneration received for reviewing this? If so, very clever! In all honesty, I didn't have the funds to promote this one, and didn't really consider it worthy. But it still had to be listed to meet my contractual requirements. Many thanks for reviewing anyway :) Craig

You dared me Craig. I can't help myself. I know the word. Basically from his roots. No comment on the real date. Lol. What is that meter called for 10-8-8-10? I think song lyrics use that format. Thank you for sharing

I'm not sure what it's called Pam, and I didn't know songs used it. In fact, until you mentioned it, I didn't know I'd used it lol
Sometimes, especially for contest entries, I'll count syllables, in this case I didn't. As to why that meter/rhyme scheme... it's just what came out, probably as a result of the choice for the first word.
Thanks for reviewing :) Craig

Hi Craig!
Outstanding acrostic with this unusual word. Superb satirical overtones and meaning. Superb flow and rhyming! Superb phonetics in phrasing.
Favorite bits:
Superb alliteraiton of T:
To tangle with his genius mind, a treat
Most fun lines:
Regretfully, it's sometimes best
Eschewing argument for rest
So true.
Chuckling,

Love this one. Your acrostic is a rant on opinionated persons. I guess we certainly are ALL that--otherwise--why write? You start off this acrostic with a "bang"--obstreperous! Your piece is coherent, concise and it rhymes. Opinionatres IS a French word. So many words in other languages are similar. Good job and I agree with your view of opinionatres. Marilyn

Absolutely, Marilyn. There's a little of the opiniatre in most of us, I think. Many thanks for the great review - Craig

Hi, Craig,
Great job of using an acrostic poetic form to help define this difficult word. It is always fun to run into a know-it-all, isn't it? Seems like all lively conversation is shut down once they take center stage.
I think you did a good job of using the word, and Obstreperousness, too.

I was practicing for today's word, Patty, which I believe has about 400 syllables lol
Many thanks :)

CD,
What fun!! I adore words, so getting to add new ones to my vocabulary is always exciting. *smile*
I'm pretty sure we have this word in use in the States -- well, available, maybe. Ha!!
Hang on--
Yep:
opinionater
History/Origin
Early 18th century; earliest use found in Robert South (1634-1716), Church of England clergyman and theologian. From opinionate + -er, perhaps as alteration of opinionator.
Do these have the same origin?
Fascinating, as always. Thank you!

I'm not sure Robyn, but another interesting case of the "er" vs "re" difference - as in meter/metre or center/centre. Glad it piqued your interest :) Cheers, Craig
