Hi Craig, that's an interesting background for the use of this word. Of course, as I live in Spain and studied Spanish literature and history of the Iberian Peninsula, way back in the seventies, which of course included Portugal, I found this and intriguing story. All the best. Ulla:))

Comment from Gloria ....
This is great, Craig. Your metre and rhymes spot on, and I've learned all about a new fellow I didn't know the existence of before. He's a good looking dude too.
So true, that whenever we can't accept the reality we make something up to fill the gap with the way we want the story to go down.
Great job and another new word that I might possibly remember.

Well, I still will hold on to the resurrection of Christ. Other than that, I would agree that there are lots of sebastianisms even those that believe that the earth is flat.

Hi Craig. I could not help thinking of the brainwashed trump cult. His crowds look like brainwashed nazis. Gawd I can't stand him. He is going to get some journalists killed. Well written poem. Of course it is an esoteric word, so I had no idea. Thank you for sharing

Fantastic poem with a brilliant use of rhyme. Another new word for me - and this time I'll remember it forever (to cut a long story short, I know someone named Sebastian who also happens to believe in many unbelievable things!) Well done, my friend.

Wow -- I never thought about it until you mentioned it, but I don't know, and am pretty sure I've never met, anyone named Sebastian. And yet, it's not as uncommon as some names. Many thanks for the great review -- Craig

Like Elvis, Sebastian must have been a beloved king. Wouldn't it be nice to be thought of so highly that Sebastianists would have to make up a story to keep us around.
Nice post.

Thank you. How kind.

A very well-written poem to explain Sebastian/ism to the reader. Indeed it is a believe in vain to trust that a mere human like ourselves will rise from the dead to make our lives livable again.

I thank you kindly, sir, for I consider myself a lifelong learner, and have learned a new word in your writing this poem of Sebastian. I'm recently obsessed with death and the hearafter, legends from my youth and fears from my studies... so reading this today was serendipitous, to say the least. Well done.

While I'd never try to tell anyone what they should or shouldn't believe, I admire that you expressed your beliefs beautifully through meter that worked very well and rhymes that sounded totally unforced. Well done.
