Lol. Funny that a term for a wrestling match would be used for a battle of brains. I would guess if someone lacked the wits, he might have enough clout to change the rules?

Well, I'd much prefer to watch the latter any time. WWF or WWE or MMA, or whatever other TLA it goes by now doesn't really appeal to this little black duck. Thanks, Helen :)

Good job with this poem. I like the image used to illustrate. Are these combatants speaking in empty bubbles or do they really contain information needed to come to a satisfactory conclusion. Marilyn

I was tempted to fill those bubbles in, Marilyn. Then I decided it was best not to. Many thanks, Craig

Sometimes, it's better not to give in to temptation.

Hahahaha! Are you talking about the presidential debates?
Oh my, not me! Oh please, not I!
Good friend, you must consider -
while Trump might lie, he'll always try
to say he's just a kidder.

He's more a Duckish Donald;
the man don't hold no Trump.
In spite of my poor English,
the guy is still a chump.
Thankee so much, Dawn :)

Good one, Craig. So true you should never bring a brain to a sandbox fight erm debate. One thing is for sure it will be a worthless effort at best but if the concession stand sells potato chips everything is good.:)
Excellent wit and an enjoyable read.

Thanks so much, Gloria. Potato chips? Well, ok, they're acceptable, but I was really hoping for hot popcorn. Much appreciation :)

A very well-written poem about a grand debate. When two people have different opinions about something they can try and solve the problem with a debate until they can find common ground.

I enjoyed reading your word for a day poem, Craig. It fits in smoothly within the context of the poem. The picture I a great match for your words, too. You are right. Many debates start and end as you have stated. Good job. Thanks for sharing. Jan

Thanks very much, Jan. I so wanted to fill in those bubbles, but decided that would diminish the portability :)

And that usually makes for a poor viewing audience as well -- always love a GOOD debate! :) ;) A word that's kinda fun to say as well! :) :) Thanx for sharing and have a great day! :)

Hahaha... Yes, that is pretty funny. It may be an old joke, but the way you've incorporated into your word poem is creative and clever. I like learning these new words. Your lines are perfectly balanced and the rhymes crisp and neat. The meaning is clear, and I'm just sorry you feel "witless" today. Maybe we should postpone our debate for a little while. You get feeling better, ya hear? Hugs, MM ;")

I really enjoyed how fast and effective this poem was! I enjoyed the rhyming and use of vocabulary very much as well. Short and to the point. A very clever poem. A bit funny as well. Great job!

Okay, you got me with palaestra. It looks latin, but I couldn't even guess at the root. I love obscure words and it seems you've found a way to truly enhance your vocabulary. Good job.

Apparently, it's derived from the Greek word for "wrestle". Somewhere along the way, it came to mean an intellectual battle, rather than a physical one. Thanks for the kind review. Craig
