Hmm, I could be wrong (I'm a little off my game tonight) but shouldn't "jingle boy" have the possessive apostrophe? OH. I guess it does work as you have it - an adjective, duhhhhh. (LOL)

And WISE you are!
I'm a pretty straight shooter and can often spot bullshit at a minimum 100 paces LOL
I would just tell that smooth snake-tongued spruking jingle boy where to go shove his little ol' jingle bells...er, so to speak LOL
Love your sass!
And of course, all the new words I have to add to the Closet Files.
Well rhymed and I especially liked the incorporation of the big pause in the closer.
You KNOW how to deliver AND use your punctuation to have the reader get it exactly how you want.
I wish MORE people would do it here.

Thanks yet again, Phillippa. My friend Leroy the Lion was just saying to me the other day... "How the hell ............... are you?"
Why the big pause? He was born that way!
OK, I know, I'll stick to writing daft poems in future.
I'm most grateful for your kindness.

Oh my, you are preaching to the choir in this one - the jingle boy lies - ha ha! We've been hearing a bunch of those lately in the U.S., much to my disgust. The whole trickle down thing is a bunch of B------t in my opinion.
Excellent job! And not just because I agree with you!

Thanks so much for the lovely comments, and the delightfully shiny stars, Carol. And congratulations on actually having one in your possession so late in the week! I'm chuffed that you were kind enough to give it to me :) Cheers, Craig

I guess that you only get a trickle on that gravy train. I am constantly amazed at how much you know about American politics. Or, is trickle down economics prevalent in Australia as well?
At any rate, I think your poem is very clever.

I think this particular term used to describe the reverse Robin Hood theory has been around a while, Debbie, since the great depression at least. And of course it rose to prominence again thanks to Ronald Reagan. But most of America's worst ideas get copied here, eventually. I can still remember when I visited the States just before the turn of the millenium, how shocked I was to discover banks actually charged fees for giving you the privilege of letting them have your money. Here, not only was there no such thing as "bank fees" or "transaction charges", they actually paid you quite handsomely in interest, because their money people had the skill to invest it wisely and the bank still made a killing. I bet most people here wouldn't even remember it was once like that.

This limerick, The Train You Don't Want to Ride, seems to promote a concern about following the trickle-down theory which has always been a tricked-you-dummy reality.

Hi Craig,
What a great name for a rich man ... 'jingle-boy'. I'm going to try to remember and use this one. One can see how that name came about ... coins jingling in his pocket. I love the picture of the Monopoly Man (go to jail, go directly to jail, do not pass GO, do not collect $100.) :)
Some get rich by less than honest means, and rich men have their problems too, just like the rest of us. Best if we don't get sucked into any get rich quick schemes. Well done, Craig!
Cheers,
Connie

Many thanks once again, Connie. Get rich quick scheme = get poor quick, in reality. I'm with you :)

A very well-written poem to explain the word Jingle-boy that means a rich man. We can choose which train we like to ride. Sometimes we get what we expected and other times we are disappointed.

Comment from Gloria ....
What?! You mean everyone isn't going to rich on trickle-down economics because sadly when those folks get the cha-ching in their pockets they keep it and not one single coin gets trickled down? lol. Of course not, but what can you do except pick up the wreckage from that theory when it doesn't work AGAIN.
Excellent limerick friend, Craig.

Well, obviously I didn't mean that they wouldn't hand over every penny they promised in return for paying no tax and rorting every loophole there is. What on Earth were you thinking? Thanks very much, Gloria. Much appreciated :)

Hi Craig. Want to be sure that you meant to have two instance of wise in this line
"don't board it -- a word to the wise wise."
Jingle boy makes sense since coins jingle. You and I think the same way on many things. I value compassion and empathy above money. Good job. Thank you for sharing

Excellent limerick with words of wisdom, too! I guess the term must have come about when people still used more coins for money than we do today. No one jingles. Today, everyone uses cards.
