Of course you'd have to say she's right when faced with a scolding, quarrelsome woman. Great picture, and author's notes too, both brought a Sunday afternoon smile.
cheers, Craig,

LOL-- glad to know you know it. I'm grinning too big -- my face hurts.

If men were meant to rule the earth
there'd be no merriment and mirth.
The mess would be just like their rooms --
warnings posted 'bout the fumes...

If, in a forest, desolate and bleak,
a man should exercise his right to speak,
without a female there to tag along,
would that poor man be equally as wrong?

Thank you so much, Dawn ;-)

Craig, wrong is wrong if heard or not,
and so say "Sorry", 'cuz you ought
by now to know the truth of this!
She married you, poor sorry Miss!

She KNEW what she would face with you-
a MAN? Bad habits, ego too!
That sports bag and your stinky socks,
a so-called pal who rarely talks

unless it's asking for a beer-
"You're by the fridge. Please bring one here."
And only 'please' because she gripes
so you learn manners. Oh, you 'types'...

(*snicker* You won't win, you know...HAHAHAHA)

I'm LOL on this one. I wonder how tolerant the hubby would be if his wife was running around with half naked men. Good for Xanthippe who is back in the kitchen (or maybe the bathroom) refilling the jug. Marilyn

Haha, thanks so much, Marilyn. I'm not sure how those ancient Greeks and Romans would have gone with the permissive morals of these days ;-) Cheers, Craig

Haha ... don't you just hate it when someone is always right?!

This is a fun entry for the contest, Craig. I laughed at your author's notes too. I love your title, and your choice of artwork is priceless.

Cheers,
Connie

Hi, Craig,

Great use of the two-four-two poetic form to introduce us to your new word. I think I would hate it if this were the way my hubby was to describe or even think of me!

So, you think it was his xanthippe who was responsible for him accepting his death so easy?

Hmmm,

~MP~

    Thanks Patty.

Must be a cultural thing; my other half and I are putting **** on each other all the time, and we're not exactly unusual in that regard :)

    Much appreciated, Craig.

A very well-wruitten 2-4-2 poem about the scolding woman that never stops and always thinks she is right even though she is many times to be proven wrong.

What a perfect use of the 2-4-2 poetic form. It's so concise that it is clever. You say tons in these 8 syllables. In my mind, this is how you do the 2-4-2 poem. And, I know who Xanthippe is now. I don't know what is being poured on Socrates's head, but that is another issue.
Great job.

It doesn't look good, does it? Thanks for the kind comments, Debbie. Much to my surprise, a number of people seem to have been quite put out by this one. Apart from writing a poem which said "a hen-pecking woman is a myth", I don't know where this could have gone. We're all so serious!

What a picture! Am I to understand that was Socrates? Well, I would guess that there might be other reasons why his wife was such a Xanthippe. I'm guessing he wasn't home much in his professional philospher status. Lol.

LOL thanks for having a laugh. Some people seemed to get a bit put out. He probably was the type not to stop and ask directions when he was driving ;-) Cheers, Helen
