When I saw your title I immediately thought of the cow that jumped over the moon, how wrong was I, instead, we could end up on the dinner plate of some unknown galaxy. Great little rhyming poem Craig, enjoyed it and left me smiling. I for one wonder why they want to spend so much money of space travel.

It does seem like a terrible waste when so many are impoverished. Then again, supposedly so much good technology has supposedly come about as a result of problems that needed to be solved to get us into outer space. My guess is many people are looking at somewhere to go after we finally wreck this planet beyond any hope of repair. That's just shifting the problem, in my view. Most grateful, Craig

Hi, Craig,
I think we enjoy sending out invitations across the airwaves. I wonder what will happen when the first level of beings come here to accept the invite. We will probably kill them first and ask questions later,

Most likely, Patty. Although, if they can manage the technology to get here, our potential to do them harm might be limited. Unless, of course, as we might expect of highly advanced beings, they have no use for, nor comprehension of, violence. You reminded me of one of my favourite movies - The Day the Earth Stood Still. Cheers, Craig

I watched a wonderful movie about that very dish pictured here with your poem-- darned if I can remember the name of it...
Once again, although perhaps meant to be satirical, I find what you've written most thought-provoking. What a disappointment it would be to discover that we (humanity) are mere cows to some other species...
But then, observation of OUR species sometimes makes it seem highly plausible... (LOL)

LOL I think it might have been called "The Dish" - starring Sam Neill? I really enjoyed that one too.
Most grateful, as always, Dawn :)

Yes, I think that's the movie. Thank you! And of course, my pleasure to read whatever you write. :)

Hi Craig,
Yeah, we're kind of lucky that on this planet we are at the top of the food chain. Heaven forbid that one day we could become a superior race's burger for lunch. As you also say though -- if friendly, that superior race could well save us from ourselves.
You've voiced what I think many of us think about when thinking of the possibility of aliens. Would they be friendly? Would they be a threat?
"They might drop by here just to pick and browse" ... lol ... luv it! Let's hope that whoever receives our 'aerograms' has a kind heart. Your poem showcased the word 'aerogram' very well. I enjoyed reading it, Craig, and thanks for teaching me another new word.
Cheers,
Connie

Hi Craig. Last week was a lost week for me and I could not review everything that came my. Trying to review at least one for each of my friends, so here is yours. I did have clues fromthe roots what the word meant. There was a time when I thought I wanted to be an astronomer. Not an astronaut. We have two big observatories here. Space is fascinating. I think it would depend on if someone like trump made contact from space. He and his kind would make us slaves and milk is and force is to have babies that are cruelly treated and sold as veal. But if we get Mother Theresa it is another story. Nice job. Thank you for sharing

Thanks very much, Pam. I wouldn't worry about the missed reviews -- life has a way of interfering for all of us from time to time. Hope things are getting back to normal for you. Thanks for making time to review this one, and for the great comments. Craig
Comment from Gloria ....
Well I guess it all depends. What did the aerograms say on the invitation? If it just said QWERTY my guess is they will know we are cows and will be right on over as soon as they get on their Sunday best, OR maybe they are already here. Wooo ooo wooo ooo.
A most interesting poem Craig. :)

Couldn't already be here, Gloria. The Prez has made it very clear he don't want no stinkin' illegal aliens.
Thanks muchly :)

I agree with you. Be careful who we send a message to, we don't know how they'll respond. i think the panic of getting a response alone would drive some people over the edge--friendly or not. Good job with aerogram. Yes, I would have thought it to be an airmail letter. The image of Parkes radiotelescope is impressive. Marilyn

Thanks very much, Marilyn. It looks just as cool by day - I was tossing up which shot to use. Cheers, Craig

So, it's near enough you took your own photos? Wow!
-
No, I found day and night shots. I did have photos I took there years ago, but no idea where they would be now.

Yeah, and you are definitely not the first to propose such a "out-of-this-world" idea! :) :) Although, I have to be honest, don't think any of them actually referred to us as 'cows' -- hilarious! :) ;) Thanx for the smile, sir! :) Yvette :)

You did a good job, Craig, with your rhyming poem with your word for the day. Your lines flow smoothly with those good rhymes. Your message I clear, too. We won't know if any space visitors look us up until it may be too late--too late to save the human race nd too late to worry if they are unfriendly. Good job and thanks for haring. Jan.

A very well-written poem about technology and how it developed over the years. We speculate about life elsewhere in the universe but will it really be a good thing to meet someone from anothr planet.
