Personally, I think you are a shining wit, but not, not, not! the spoonerism of it.
This was fun. I enjoyed the use of a spoonerism to avoid the open spurcity, makes the hidden spurcity pleasingly wry, and the quote mark did a great job of fanning my curiosity. I was glad for the author's notes, with the subtle nudge back to the poem to help me figure it out when I was a bit slow, but aware there was something about that shining wit that I wanted to better understand.
Nicely done.

Haha, well, thanks, above all, for not missing the spoonerism, Turtle. One of my favourite ways of having a dig at someone (sadly, I rarely get into arguments these days, so I almost never get to use it) is to tell them they are exactly the type Professor Spooner would refer to as a shining wit :)
I'm extremely grateful for the wonderful comments and the shining rating.

This limerick, The Spoonerist, has a good beat and sound rhyme. Another word for dirty, spurcity, has landed here as well.

Well, er... Who, exactly, is asking for him to cuss, hmm? I mean, you SAY he is doing it "on demand"... (LOL. *snicker*) Cute limerick, though I suspect you're making stuff up again... (hahahahaha!)

Me, make stuff up? My great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great granddaddy Ludwig Van Beethoven would turn in his grave if he heard such scurrilous allegations! Thanks for the fun review! Craig

You're very welcome (liar, liar). LOL

Hi, Craig,
Hmmm. I have lots of friends who are spurcitious. It seems that they cannot complete a single sentence without using some type of obscenity. But I love them, so I let it go. (In fact, I join in once in a while - especially if we are talking about Mr. Dump.)
Thank you for sharing,
~MP~

Haha, yes, well that is one temptation it would be very hard to resist. Thanks so much, Patty. Craig

Spurcity can draw a wince. Some words are best saved for "special occasions" when emphasis is really needed. LOL. We all know those who thrive on "emphasis." Marilyn

Good afternoon to you, Craig
A good friend, I'm quite sure, wouldn't object to your whining shit if it was deemed appropriate :)
'Spurcity' another to add to my list!
cheers you

You know, being a mom and a high school teacher, I find that the over-use of obscenity is kindof a 'coming of age' thing for the teens...you know, kinda 'finding that they feel grown up' when they use it. So, the overuse of it has become a meter for me to 'measure' an adult's maturity: whether or not they know how to watch/tame their tongue. :) ;) A fun limerick, sir - thanx for sharing! :) Yvette :)

I don't take a great deal of exception to the occasional expletive. In the right company, I've been known to employ them myself. But I think overuse becomes very boring very quickly :) Many thanks, Yvette.

Love your limerick, but what's a "shining wit?" Guess you are sending me to google like I did you with ginkgo.
I am also not sure about that consonant exchange. Sounds like pig latin to me. Don't you just love that term?
I'm having fun with this. Thanks for the pun fost.

Hi Debbie,
"Shining wit" is a compliment which means someone is very bright. However, if you exchange the "sh" in shining with the "w" in wit (thus creating a spoonerism), it's not quite so complimentary. Pig Latin is fun too :) Many thanks, Craig

That's funny. Thanks for explaining.

A very well-written Limerick. We have many friends that are able to spice their words without even notice they say the words they are saying. Sometimes we can just shut off our ears.
