Comment from Gloria ....
Ha, this is a terrific good bit of satire, Craig. And along with that incredibly confusing road sign it's no wonder any of us can find our way anymore. It always reminds me of horror stories like the Hills Have Eyes.
But he, which way to the Tea Party? ;-)
Thanks for the humour which is always appreciated. :)

Thanks very much, Gloria. I thought that sign was a nice little inclusion as well. Cheers, Craig

This poem, Accountability, brings 'indagnation' into my lexicon today. I at first thought to correct its spelling until I read the note and reminded myself of your goal to improve our collective vocabulary.

Thanks very much, Bill. It can be quite tricky to remember not to type some more familiar word in place of the unusual one. Cheers, Craig

indagation threaten honest folk? Liked that line. The road to hell is paved with good intentions. The results of the midterm elections are a big worry for your country. I pray that the good people will take the fools to task, for all your sakes. The future looks bleak with a control freak!

This one weaves clever political satire with the exploitation of that most unusual word. Fine alliteraiton of W and consonance of L, etc. Good flow and beat. Highly relevant and well voiced closing lines:
The road to hell begins, most likely, at a polling booth;
be thankful there are still some left to take the rogues to task.
No nits notice.
Good rhyming too!
Warmly, rd

This is great. Thank you for explaining' indagation'.
I liked that you quoted Alice's thought .That is very relevant here.
The first line is very expressive...duck and weave and circumvent the truth...
Thank you for sharing.

Love that quote from Alice and really enjoyed your first line! And boy, that word sure looks more like "indignation" than "indagation." I sure hope the indagation would complete already!

Thanks so much, Helen. Sometimes we need a babelfish to translate for us, I think. Cheers, Craig

Not quite sure what you are ranting about (being dense again). I am assuming the rogues are the Russians. Who's going to take them to task? Of course, the rogues are also Trump and his henchman who do not want the investigation to proceed.
Here in Alabama, folks are protesting the firing of our hometown boy Jeff Sessions. He wasn't going to take them to task though.
Hope Mueller can do his job.
Did I rant on the right topic?

For reasons I haven't tried to figure, I just decided to take a broader focus for a couple of days. So this post wasn't particularly about Trump, although of course, he is without doubt the worst offender, at least in the western world. But there are skeletons in the closet of most politicians everywhere, and this piece was, I guess, just lamenting the fact that we don't choose better people to represent our interests.
Many thanks, Debbie :)

When you throw that wide net, you will catch Trump first. I knew that it was a wide net. You weren't confusing.

Aaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhha!!! Another poem so wonderfully illustrating not only your talent as a poet but your amazing ability to illuminate the shadows that daunt...
I loved it. You aren't sure? Then let me say this--I rarely award one of those scant sixes to a short poem. This one belongs at every polling booth.

Hehe. Thanks for the fun image, Dawn. I just pictured a polling booth, with "Vote 1" posters for the Mad Hatter plastered everywhere... I'm most grateful for your kind and generous rating of what, as you say, is a very short poem. Cheers, Craig
Comment from Sandra du Plessis
A very well-written poem about the investigation to find a crime where there is no crime will take years to solve. Time and money are wasted to investigate something that never happen to blind eyed everyone that only see the invisible crime.

Is that a quote? It sounds familiar, I'm trying to place where it comes from. Nixon, maybe? Many thanks, Sandra :) Craig

If it is a quote from someone famous it was by accident, because it just come out as I type about my thoughts of your poem.

"Accountability" Now that is a word I learned in Church from the Preacher. LOL We will be held accountable for our sins. Good job Craig. You have certainly got some mileage from your treasured Christmas present book haven't you. Good job! Nancy:)
