I chuckled at your cheeky title Craig, and yes it was a delightfully cheeky poem too.
Great word - piper's-bidding - and you can actually see where the meaning comes from,
cheers,
valda

Lol. Oh, THAT Liz and Phil. Well, I don't think anyone should feel in the least slighted if they aren't invited. But please do let us know if you do get invited! Put in a good word for us.

If I DO get invited, Helen, I'll let you know in about 2023. That should be just about enough time to complete my frenzied social media bragging, then I can get to the emails :) Cheers, Craig

Hi Craig, when I read your fun poem I was looking and looking for the word I sure wouldn't know. But the last thing I thought of was the Piper's bidding as this seemed quite normal to me. Lived in Scotland and been married to a Scot all this seemed quite the appropriate way to announce that brunch was ready. Until I read your notes. So it means a last minute's invite! Ach well, I canny win them all. Again I've learned something new. All best, and Merry Christmas. Ulla:))

Well, a lunch announcement could well be taken as an invitation, so I'd say you weren't too far wrong, Ulla. Hoping it's a braw, bricht, moonlicht nicht where you are :) Cheers, Craig

Hahaha, I'm impressed. And actually we have the most glorious bright days and a full moon shining at night. Only as info the Scottish saying ends with tonicht. Cheers.

Thanks very much Sandra... still waiting. Cheers, Craig
Comment from Gloria ....
Superb voicing in this bit of cheek, Craig. Of course the Queen and Prince made a big mistake leaving a most interesting person off their lunch invite list. Their loss, your gain.
Most enjoyable piper's bidding. :)

Thanks so much, Gloria. Our postal service has gone to crap in the past couple of years, since they decided deliberately delaying delivery by days (wow, none of that alliteration was intentional lol) was a great way to get people to pay priority. I'm sure that's all it is :)

I love it! I am sure you will get your piper's-bidding and enjoy your cucumber sandwiches! But I think they will be serving turkey also! Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you and your family, love Dolly x

Well, as long as they serve me before the turkey, Dolly! ;-)
I thought I might at least warrant scones with jam and cream [sigh].
You and yours have a wonderful holidays as well :)
Merry Christmas,
Craig

Another excellent poem to convey a new word. 'Piper's-bidding' ... I doubt that I'll have occasion to use this particular word, but it was fun to read your poem and to learn another new word.
Love the humor in your poem, Craig. I'll call the queen and make sure that you're on her next invitation list. :))
Cheers,
Connie

Thanks so much for that Connie. While you are on the phone to the queen, please pass on my apologies that the corgi treats I sent for Christmas last year gave her pooches the runs. Hmmm, I wonder if that has anything to do with missing out? :) Cheers, Craig
-
Hahaha ... yep, I'm guessing that's the reason you're missing out. :)))
