This is the definitely the truth is musical chairs. But the last man standing may be a winner in a boxing ring. But, in life, the last man standing is often a lonely man.
Congrats on placing third in the contest.

Oh I used to hate playing musical chairs as a kid, I think I was the one you're writing about here. Must have been too slow. Enjoyed the read and the chuckle,
cheers,

Thanks so much, Valda. I don't recall ever winning at musical chairs, or pass-the-parcel, for that matter :) Cheers, Craig

This 5-7-5, Persistence, has the proper formatting and finds the paradox where being the winner makes one the loser. Move your feet and lose your seat.

Well, yes, that is very true. So why does this truth make me giggle? I was always rather good at this game. Why don't we play this as adults? I might suggest it next time we have people round.

I think it's because, as mature, responsible adults, we've all progressed to Twister by now. Many thanks, Emma.

Condensed, well expressed and thought provoking. A remarkable few of the last men standing in history were ultimately considered "victorious" in the sense that their reputations were preserved and/or that they shaped future events positively. Of those In recent times I think of Churchill, Salk, Mandela, others certainly.
Kudos.

Haha aren't YOU clever? You have managed to make a loser out of this guy in his legendary status of being last one to pike out or perhaps leave the party to go home,. I'm sure whilst he may STILL be standing after a bevvy of ales, if he DOES sit down on one of those chairs he'd be likely to fall asleep haha
For some reason I got some vivid imagery of some pissed and munted idiot trying to make it to the last chair...and falling...not standing haha
Great stuff! Good luck. Great pun. I hope YOU are the last one standing in this contest LOL

Hey, I think you just wished for me to lose! Oh well, not much doubt about that...
Thanks so much for the fun review, Phillippa, and the wonderful, shiny stars. . I think one of those ales sounds really like the ticket.
Most grateful, Craig

Oh, you! This is too clever by far. So much for any hope for a win in THIS contest -- I bet this little 5-7-5 has it sewn up! Seriously, Craig, this is outstanding. I ran out of sixes or this would have one, and I don't often use a sixon a tiny poem because I read a lot of much longer ones, and a lot of prose.
WONDERFUL! *********************!!!

Oh this is terrific. It looks like a winner to me. Great job. You've said so much in so few words. Your poem carry itself without need for image. Good luck in the contest. Marilyn

Well-stated, CD Richards!
How I hated that childhood game! Worse than bumper cars. I appreciate not only the sparcity of words in your well-crafted offering, but the fact that your words "have bones" without any artwork. Kudos!
Best Wishes!
