I'm Irish-descended, ya brute.
I'll thank ye ta honor my roots.
I don't drink at all,
'n if ever I fall,
I've not been a-havin' a toot!

    I'm sometimes quite sober meself
    and mostly, a temperate elf
    Though these lim'ricks I tink
Just might drive me to drink
Which might not be so bad for me healf!

    Thanks, Dawn ;-)

This work has reached the exceptional level

On the Guinness young Seano had punted...
While he'd heaved, sniffled, snorted and grunted...
Downing booze was quite easy--
It beat sick and queasy--
And sure as shit Sean wound up munted!

Haha great stuff Craig. You have a terrific knack for a

sound limerick and this read beautifully. Limericks are one of my favourite forms only mine tend to be a little more risque haha
I'm just waiting for a Filthy Contest haha I have a great one about a vib...ahhh never mind LOL

It can wait.

Love your work mate.

    I think I prefer yours.

Just so you know, Phillippa, I have never heard that awful limerick about the unfortunately young lady from Brazil and a stick of TNT. And NONE of my poems feature an actress, a priest and a bishop. Furthermore, amorous couples and staircases do NOT appear in any of my limericks! I would be appalled at such a thing!

Thanks for the wonderful review, it's quite made my day. Back to painting horse floats with a song in my heart ;-)

    Cheers,
    Craig

    LMAO
Good to know you haven't heard that one...although the one I may or may not have heard was about a young lady from Dallas, but there was definitely a dynamite stick involved haha

    You're a riot!

    Happy painting.
Got a tip? I like a punt LOL

Hi Craig. Happy one day past St. Patrick's Day. This is a well composed limerick for the holiday. For those who imbibe, I'm sure it hit the spot. I'm more in tune with my cuppa java. Marilyn

Thanks very much, Marilyn. I don't imbibe often myself, and while I don't mind the occasional ale, that Guinness stuff is vile! Many thanks, Craig

Hello :)
This is funny and bouncy as a limerick should be!
Good Irish name, Sean ;)
I like the drunk as a skunk line!
Good luck in the voting booth.
Best wishes, Debra :)

I'm sure there are many out there that would tell you alcohol can cure everything. At least whiskey can. I think that's what many tell you to drink when you have a cold at least. St. Patricks Day is almost here. A day to help the bars stay in business.

He he he, this is a brilliant Limerick with a great flow, alas the syllable count is inconsistent and I'm not sure whether the adjudicators will penalise you for it, the best one I've read so far though, good luck, love Dolly x

It's more usual than not for limericks to have an extra syllable in the last line. This one is 8-8-6-6-9, which is very common. So is 9-9-6-6-10 (e.g. the young lady from Niger). If anyone decides to penalise for that reason, I think they'd be making a mistake. Thanks for the lovely comments, I'm glad you enjoyed :)

Hi Contest Author,

Ha ha ha! Guiness cures all--at least on Patty's Day. This is a great contest entry, as it is humorous and very well written with a great visual presentation. Nothing amiss here that I can suggest improving upon. Good luck and thanks for sharing. jan

This was a good read. Guinness is one of my favorite beverages. So I can definitely identity with this piece. Good job and good luck in the contest.

This is a wonderful entry to the contest. The picture is a wonderful one for this poem. This flows very well. I don't think Guinness is a cure, but what they hey right? I think many people or drunk on St. Paddy's Day. Good luck in the contest. Very well done.

Yeah, I think that Guinness would probably make you drunk as a skunk. I've never really had much of this kind of beer. I've only heard about it. I love this limerick though. You have a very good rhyme and flow going here. I like the larger than life accompanying artwork. Thanks for sharing this well limerick. Great job and well done!
