I couldn't agree more with what you so clearly state in this
beautiful, meaningful poem. Apart from the 'damage' it does
to themselves, their souls and bodies, it separates them (the 'addicts')
from normal interaction with others, as well as limits their senses, awareness of the real world around them, its sounds, smells, views,
wherever they find themselves. At some schools children are learning
to meditate and practice mindfulness, which I hope one day will become
part of the curriculum. Congratulations with shared 2nd prize, well deserved, Susan.
Addition to initial review, as you got 2nd, not 3rd prize.

So very much limitation, Sue -- there is SO MUCH LESS gathering and social interaction than there used to be ....and when there are 'events' or 'opportunities', the phones are out for pictures and posting WHILE the event is going on!! Ugh. :( Thanx for your lovely stars and don't worry about the 'mistake'.... I just love to hear from you!! ;) :) Take care and thank you for these beautiful stars!! :) :) Yvette

Totally agree, as is a FACT, Ugh indeed. So terribly sad (tres triste) to see a group of youngsters out for a meal together, but not conversing, each one on their cell phones (facebook, instagram, etc.)
Very dangerous addiction indeed!
Anyway, thank you for lovely response to my review and we shall meet again Yvette. All the best, Susan x

This is beautiful! And so needed in today's world. Youth need to find themselves before going out in a harsh environment where others may say disagreeable things about them. (Sorry this review was late.) Can I state I find this work PERFECT! Here's the six stars I don't have. * * * * * *

So glad you enjoyed this one, ma'am! :) ;) Sometimes we do need to just sit and find the strength within before walking out!! :) ;) And your statement of perfection is very welcome and I'll put it up there with my smiles to get me through the week! ;) ;) Yvette

Wonderful use of the senses to accentuate things in our lives that we seldom see as important as they are. They help us learn and grow into true selves.
Congrats on placing second in the contest.

I certainly agree with you, the ability to speak, has been forgotten, and with it the spirit of the word...I've been out of the classroom for many years, but there was a time, when I'd visit my doctor's office to an audience of hello's...now I hardly get a mumble when I speak...I enjoyed the way your expressed yourself, through your well chosen words...Thanks for sharing..
Warmly,
Victoria

You're quite welcome, Yvette, it was my pleasure.
Indeed I do wish you'd send some warm bright sunshine my way...I look forward to planting some Roses, but its too cool for me to be outside for long...but maybe that's just an old lady's problem.
Have a wonderful day, and stay well. :) :)
Warmly
Victoria

I wish I could share your message with every kid in the USA. Of course, let the first old baby boomer who is without downloads throw the first smart-phone! I am guilty as charged. Nice work!

Wow, Reese!! ;) :) You have certainly brightened up things around here with those lovely stars -- so much appreciated!! ;) ;) I just want to take those phones and pitch them out a window some time, although, I promise to let you keep yours... I loved the words of wisdom here. It's so important for young ones to see the need to just unplug and experience life without a device in their hands. My grandson found a centipede in our woodpile yesterday- that's the real life not posted on Instagram. Thank you for sharing your insightful sentiments.

Classic ... it is a sure and steadfast piece with direction and good delivery of intent stirring the desire and pointing the way to discovery. It has a sense of achievement with an air of harmonious affection to deliver a better existence. A tip try using the ellipses ... with a space before and after it's poetic license and makes the piece more attractive thats just in my eyes ... cool !!!

-Nice artwork and
presentation, Yvette.
-Your notes are appreciated.
-The syllable count is good.
-This is a well written poem
that reflects some of your
ideas in the notes.
-I like the messages in it-
stated well in just the
opening line of each verse.
-I think young people need
to discover who they really
are deep inside, as opposed
to the superficial self revealed
in all of the social media.
-Good luck in the contest.

The poem is encouraging enough to uplift the pessimist. When it is said that self-impeached is the best check on one's actions and deeds, it can also lead to self discovery.

Thank you for your review on this one, Khurram -- so glad you found it uplifting (although, I hope you're not a pessimist -- LOL!)... If you are a pessimist, stick around and I'll try to change you -- or least send a bit of sunshine your way! :) I am so glad you enjoyed this one... take care out there!! :) ;) Yvette

Great advice! Know thyself, as Shakespeare admonished. You don't need to be bored during quiet times. Use that to do some introspection. See yourself as others see you... would you like who you are? what you say and do? Not that you should live life to please others, but do try to enlarge your perspective, since we all must live in and with society.
