I really like your story and see it was a winner. I find myself wondering where the presents came from. Was Mom just kidding? Or what? Anyway, it is a lovely story.

So Santa Claus came through after all? This is a joyous story. I loved it, but the ending confused me. Was there an unexpected windfall in your family that allowed for the layaways to be paid for? (I just now read your author note and see that it remained a mystery).
Your story is really well-written and inspiring.

A very well-written heart warming story about hardship at Christmas time is always a miserable time to see others enjoy Christmas without any cares while there us not much you can enjoy but there is always a chance of a miracle or surprise.

Sweet! I wonder who the mystery wo/man was--must have been Santa--who else could sneak in your house! This is a charming story--lovely uplift sorely needed!

Thank you for the lovely review and generous compliments, dear Liz. We never knew who had funded this although I suspected my mother wrote the tags. Sending you my best today as always,

What a beautiful story! Some-one cared and showed compassion on the little children. I hope to be aware of any who might need a little "intervention" to help their Christmas dreams come true.

What a lovely Christmas remembrance! I have a few like yours in my memory cranium, and there have been years I didn't know where we where going to come up with any Christmas money; but somehow we always found a way to have presents under the tree

Sally,
Not only is this a wonderful memory and a wonderful story to share - it's an encouragement to the rest of us to remember others at this time of the year - to try to make dreams come true for families who may be less fortunate. Thanks so much!

Oh Sally! What a sad, but wonderful story, especially since the explanation for the sudden change of moods is in your notes. Yes, Santa surely is as Santa does. :)
