This is a powerfully worded poem with some heartbreaking lines. The world has been watching as your country suffered through these terrible fires. Prayers and thoughts with you. Marilyn

This is very sad and unfortunate. I can't even begin to comprehend the pain and anguish that you're going through except by your words. I pray that the Lord restore what has been lost and bring peace and relief in this crisis situation. Thanks for sharing this informative, inspirational, and well written work. Bless you and well done.

Such a horrible situation - we pray for all of you ther e- and the whole country. I'm glad that many states are sending fire fighters - we must do this. Pray this ends soon.
Your poem describes well the problems. and hurts.

Hi Kahpot, I can't imagine what the people of Australia are going through. It's never been that bad here in the states. It gets really bad, but there's always somewhere to go... somewhere to get away to... even if it's difficult to get there, there's always somewhere to go to. What you're all going through is just the scariest thing I've ever seen. I pray for you all!

Oh my goodness, kahpot, you have my heart hurting for you... I have been watching the news and reading some posts here, and I can so relate as we lost our place to fire a few years ago (2016) in the early morning hours of my birthday. It it a feeling of which you never really free yourself (course it has only been a few years)... but on such a large scale and the lives and land affected, it truly does break a heart. This is a BEAUTIFULLY devastating offering, sir, that is woven with the loss that is inside of you along with the perseverance that is inside the Australian people... My last six is yours, my friend!! :)

Accepted with much gratitude and I am honored, yes I read and heard of the fires in your area, I remember thinking (saying) how sad this is and hoping it doesn't happen here, but as you and your country we will survive and when the smoke clears I hope to be a bit more regular on this site again, many, many thanks****kahpot

This is well written, heartfelt, and heart-wrenching. The powerful images you project by your adept use of descriptions of the burning and suffering that is still going on. The flow, meter, and rhyme scheme are all well done. It appeared difficult to do yet, I knew that your heart and soul were into it as you passionately wrote this piece. My favorite stanza is the fifth one. Lines, such as, "standing back to back at the salt waters' edge as we fight for a country unwilling to bow..." give the reflection of pride in your country, and faith and hope that you're not giving up. I am so sorry for your loss of so much of what you love. Thank you for sharing this horrendous tale of the terrible destruction of your homeland.
Take care, Jesse

This piece really moved me. I review posts that move me and have something important to say. Yours did and were both. I am glad you liked my review. It was both sad and a pleasure to review this work. You are very welcome.

This is a beautiful and heartwrenching poem. From the bravery of the firemen, to the fierce determination of the Australian people, to the devastating amount of damage already done, this poem covers every aspect of this horrendous tragedy. Very well written, painful and factual. Wonderful image to accompany your writing.

We have visited Kangaroo Island and I am relieved to hear that the fires there have ceased. (You probably know we have had our share in California as well.) Your "undeserving cremation" is unforgettable and the picture you selected underscores the "hungry firestorms". I admired your rhymes and salute your hopes for the future. Australia will recover! -Joan

There sure is a lot of poetic feeling in this poem. I think you did a good job bringing in all the end rhymes. Here is a beautiful, hopeful line: history's not lost just smouldering for now
I think I found 3 places to fix.
feirce --- should be fierce
engulfing all prey underserving cremation -- I think you mean undeserving of cremation
becomming --- should be becoming
Very nice share. We all feel bad about those fires. It reminds me of when Yellowstone Park burned about 22 years ago in the state next to mine.

The fires there in Australia are heart-breaking. The response of the Aussie people and the world is heart-felt. Thank you, kahpot, for your poignant poem about the situation. Your lines read well with great flow and imagery. Hopefully with the rain, Australia is on the road to recovery, but will never forget what was lost and those who helped during this time. Respectfully, Jan
