Hi Gretchen,
I enjoyed this piece. So many clubs and organizations are pretty sticky about new members. But God accepts you as you are. You can come to Him broken, a drunk, a drug addict, a failure, whatever. But He loves you and always has, even when you were in the darkest place. The farthest we can push Him away is the length of your arm. He's always there, and ready to help when you call out to Him.
I'd like to share a song with you. It just came to me as I was writing this response to your story. It's an old one, and you probably haven't heard it before. I used to lead the youth choir at church back in the late 70's and early 80's before I started my own Christian band. It's called "He Still Loves You" by Don Francisco...
https://youtu.be/GbBO_jsvoCM
I thought this was the best line, and made a terrific ending.
"No. I just want it to be the two of us."
Cheers,
Kimbob

Had to go back and reread that. Been a long time since that was first posted. Every morning I write a thank you note to God. It's an amazing feeling. Thank you for the kind and understanding review. Gretchen

I know a woman who prays every morning, asking God to use her for His purpose that day. And quite often, He does. It's like a surprise.

Quite beautiful and touching. I can see people in similar states of mind closing their eyes and trying it to see if it works for them, too. I loved the phrase "the soft peach of twilight." You have such a knack for turning phrases like that into such expressive pictures in my mind.
Another keeper here!

I enjoyed reading this and I thought the feelings and emotion of the character were well expressed.
I picked up a couple of points but ignore them if you'd rather.
How can you have fun when you hate your life. - did you mean to put a question mark after 'life'
I will fade into the wall paper and no one will miss me - one word - wallpaper
Cheers

A very well-written heartfelt story. We come to a point I our lives where we have to accept ourselves as we are and believe that there is a good reason why we are still around.

Gretchen, this is just wonderful! It reminds me of my precious x-daughter in law, Rosie who went through something like this, but too late to save their marriage.
She woke up too late, but she tried. She died in her sleep a couple of years ago. I'm just glad she turned her life around before it was too late for eternity. Good job! Nancy:)

Hello, I haven't been around in a while and it's good to see something you posted:-)
I think this is a realistic wee story. I like the character, and the ease of faith, not big biblical outbursts, just grounded and steady, ...(okay, that's not an opinion on content)...I just think the character and her realization are right, any more and it wouldn't fit her.
bye for now

Just love yourself, cause He does, He loves your quirks, He loves you because He made you, you're not a mistake. You are what you were meant to be. I have to speak that over a couple of senior female members of my fellowship. Love this Gretchen well done, I think we all allow ourselves to be tricked, well done, blessings, Roy

Quite the revelation. To feel loved you must first love yourself. That's an astounding -- and often difficult -- truth to realize. More power to you. I look forward to reading future works.
