Congratulations on winning the contest. Your story was fun to read. It flowed well with great details and kept my interest from start to finish.
I grew up in a fishing family, and I think I know every spot in Arkansas. lol

Really liked your story and the positive ending. Hope springs eternal! Your picture was perfect--I could picture you in that boat. You "hooked" me and probably lots of others.

This was an enjoyable fish story to read. I guess like any other sport it
is competitive. If you want something badly enough, you have to go after it
and keep trying.

Hello!
What a great story! I love the way you wrote it. Your writing flows so naturally, I can imagine how you must sound telling it out loud.
After 34 years you're still trying to catch a sunfish bigger than Joeys. And it was worth every dollar and every moment you spent doing it because you clearly love it. Like Sisyphus pushing the boulder up the mountain, and finding joy in the pushing, not the arriving at the top. I grew up with my family going on a yearly fishing trip with my uncle who had a zodiac and was obsessed with fishing. I have wonderful memories of those times, and your story kind of brought me back to those memories. You paint a vivid picture with your words.
Is this photo of the pond you wrote about? If it is, it is beautiful!

This is a well written fishing story. You expressed the challenge and its importance so aptly here. I loved the ending about making dreams come true. This is a down to earth piece that is easy to embrace and take to heart.

I wish I still had a six! I can think of nothing more boring than fishing, except maybe golf. But this makes me want to get out there and try it once more. Your really made me feel your excitement.!

That was a good story Bill and a great catch. It didn't take long either. Your perseverance, prayers, and belief in miracles will pay off in the end. The picture and the story make a very good presentation.
Congratulations on your 1st place win. Sorry, I'm so late in reviewing.:)Ralf

Great read. "Some dreams do come true," I love that part. You've written so well. Maybe just like your friend suggested. Grooming them after catching them might give you the catch size you've been long waiting for. However, if you want something so badly, you'd do all you can to get it, even if it means going back there a 100 times. Yes, dreams do come true.
You've written well. My very best wishes in the contest.
