Well done. Clearly organized and explained in detail. I felt the lobster bite. I can't imagine using a live fly for bait, so I guess this is terminology for a plastic thing that looks like a fly. So funny that you caught an enormous boot. Shows you what debis humans throw in the water/

The minute the reader reads that there was a trick to the adventure, you had the reader eating out of your hand, maybe not fish but nevertheless they were with you. In Vermont there is an archaic law about not riding a bicycle underwater. They might frown on screaming underwater. This is hilarious. What a game. I bet you clearly wanted to give the whole day the boot. This was fun.

"Our task was to dive in the river and take out the lobsters from their hiding holes from the riverbank."

Your story is interesting and enjoyable......though i have never been fishing it really must have been difficult to fish with bare hands......n especially diving and catching lobsters.....but might be memorable too! Good luck for the contest

I think it's a great piece told in that trademark dry humor of yours, of anticipation and disappointment. You look forward to this fishing outing with your family, but then you get bit by the lobster and end up catching only a big boot. But at least we can always laugh at ourselves, and in that is the ray of sunshine. estory
