Your delightful story poem just goes to show that we have to find the right niche to excel. This might mean finding it for ourselves, or being 'talent spotted', or learning as we go in another line of work, as ol' Slo Joe did.
Your rhythm and rhyme carry the tale along nicely.

Such a happy story in a poem how Slo Joe found happiness after years of misery on the track, with a cowboy who got him. Great descriptive imagery and visuals, excellent artistic presentation and artwork. I also liked your rhymes and flow.

This is really great. Like a little story in a poem. The presentation is good. I was really routin' for Joe. What a refreshing piece from all the plain ol' Janes. Thanks for sharing.

A wonderful story in this sweet rhyming poem Willie. How great it would be if we, like Joe, could all find our niche in this crazy world.
Very nicely done.
Blessings

These abcb quatrains have a happy ending for Slo Joe and the rancher who bought him. He loves his new life and does it well. By the way I would never bet on a horse named, Slo Joe. Maybe his race track troubles was a self fulfilling prophecy for his name.
Keep writing and stay healthy.

Hi,
This is a heart warming story about poor Joe finding his place after failing as a race horse - and turning into the best farm horse ever!
Lovely writing and great message! This could be a perfect candidate for children's poetry, as well.
I have just one thing I'd like to suggest in further poems -
consider sticking with a consistent syllable count
8/8/8/8 or 8/6/8/6 or 10/10/10/10 etc -
Just think about keeping it steady for better flow (if it's a rhymed poem).
For example:
"Slo' Joe was a race horse (6)
(so many seasons) back.(6)
He was the slowest horse (6)
to ever run the track. (6)
(Well,) everyone could see (6)
he had a big(-big) heart (6)
But, he was always the last(6)
to make a speedy start. (6)
and so on...
Otherwise, wonderful, imaginative poem!
Thank you for sharing!

Ol' Slo' Joe wasn't cut out to be a race horse. He did his best to show his owner that by doing everything wrong during a race. It's a wonder he didn't try going the wrong way on the the track during a race. The first time my mother ever bet on a horse, it ran the wrong way and she never bet on another horse in her life! LOL Great job, Willie!

Thank you, Patty for the very nice, comical review nd stars. Like your mother, if I bet on a horse, it would probably run off the track. Slo' Joe also says thanks.
