I loved your story. I was well told, with great descriptive ability and vision, and a superb use of a dialogue. Your characters are well defined, and I liked their interaction with one another. Thank you for the very cool author notes (smile).
I enjoyed this, thank you very much for sharing.

I enjoyed this story. I very familiar with the part of the country where your story is set as I live in Chattanooge now and go their often. I am also familiar with these kind of people although the story is set in more in my grandparens time. My grandpa dipped snuff and dad chewed tobacco and I know girls married young in those days.

The beginning hooked me right in! I really loved the opening scene and lines. I think the Smoky Mountain Voice was a great addition for the characters, but I also think it could've been a little more subtle and still give us the character without it seeming forced. I am excited to hear more about this, and I'd like to know a little more about Elsie Mae's character.

Your personality comes out immediately with your fun simile: "We're grinnin' like two possums eatin' a sweet potato! " And we haven't even gotten into the story. I love regional dialects. I taught in a town in VT. where they spoke with an Appalachian dialect. One of the coolest things they had in their rules was using the a-verb..."I was asettin' there and seen him acomin' up the road." They didn't do so well on the culturally biased Standard English tests though. When we speak of dialects, there is no correctness. It is just the rules of their region; just not the Standard English form. You might consider rewording the disclaimer in your Special Note. This could be an opportunity to educate people about regional dialects. I definitely will be back.

I don't have any 6 stars left. Sorry. This piece is absolutely perfect. Like all the other ones. What an interesting story. What's not to love about it? Fast paced, interesting, grabs and pulls reader in, colorful characters, lots of contrast, ambiance, country style, perky wording, leaves reader drooling for more.
Well done, Tootie

I'm glad I got in on the ground floor of this new novel. I enjoyed the way you used the Smoky Mountain dialect without making it to hard to read. I see a lot of potential here, and if it's ok I'm going to friemd you so I don't miss any installments.

Like the beginning chapter of your new book. I enjoy it as much as I do the other books you have written. So will the answer be yes or no? We'll soon find out when chapter two appears. I love the idea of the south and their culture.

Nice work. The story moves along smoothly, the characters are being defined nicely--Elsie Mae seems a bit forward, but hey, she's your Grandma--and I'll look forward to the next chapter.

WOW, 18 and 16, young to get married, but I understand the rush to get a heir before the war starts. Also getting the love of his life to wait for him, will make him more careful and will boost his desire to live and come back to her. Clever this little boy. Thank you for sharing and good luck with the next chapter.
