This is all too true. Although I volunteer at two battered women's shelters we have had men appear at our doors...
There are no shelters in our area for them! We offer them short term support and find them immediate care...but it's tragic they are both emasculated by the abuse and given little community based support!
Thanks for giving a voice to these men...
Abuse in all forms must be addressed!

Ciao!
There was no need to review but yes I agree all kinds of abuse should be
addressed.
I wish you all the best in your important volunteer work!
Keep safe! 🍀

I think the shelter I used to work at is one of the first to shelter abused men. We advocated for men before most. Sadly, because so few men dare to come forward because of the shame you speak of, the statistics are skewed. We have no idea how many men are abused. If someone is financially off, they have no need for advocacy or shelter. They get a lawyer, and a new house or apartment. So we never find out. Hospitals might have the case on their books but I'm not sure where those statistics are filed. So more men need to "come out" as abused or nothing will change.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with abused men with me.
People need to change their attitude..
...they don?t bother to understand the mechanisms behind the abuse but they are so ready to judge and label abused men as weaklings and sissies.
Keep safe!

Hello my friend
Great entry for the Free-style poem: human suffering writing prompt contest.
Nice poem about the way men can get discriminated when it comes to abuse. Violence against men happens too. Well done.

Thank you for reviewing my entry.
You are the second in two days .. it?s clearly not a topic people in general want to hear or care about.
Sadly men are hit double hard .. most people find it hard to believe a man can be victim of domestic violence because they think it?s a matter of muscle ..
Male abuse is on the rise
...I shudder just how many men are suffering in silence.
Keep safe!

EXCELLENT poem! I love that you tackled this subject that no one likes to talk about;-) I'm a survivor of domestic violence and yes men are more and more the victims in these present days but no one wants to believe them.
This poem should bring more awareness of these male victims and put their female abusers in jail where they belong!
Thank you so much for sharing;-)
May God bless you and your family;-)

Ciao Melody Michelle ,
Thank you for the kind review .. I can only imagine the hardships you have been through but I am glad you were able to survive the harrowing experience .. and start living again. ( smile)
You are the only one that reviewed my poem after 12 hours ..it seems that in general people still prefer to keep their heads in the sand..
I wish you peace and happiness
Keep safe...
Ciao!!
