When your appliances break
Poetry Contest
The topic for this poetry contest is: When your appliances break.
Remember the feeling when one of your appliances broke down. Describe the experience and tell us what happened to you or your apartment when that happened. Be humorous and creative. And another requirement (forgive this rhyming buff): this poem has to RHYME. Meter would be nice too. Length is three stanzas or more.
Below is my own rendition of the topic. It actually happened to me when I lived in Vegas:
DISHWASHER RIOT
Dishwasher went on strike today,
with dishes full of soap
Its reputation was betrayed
without any hope.
In a midst of cycle, soapy suds
were pouring on the floor
A million puddles of pearly duds
declared unholy war.
I grabbed a pail and a crumpled rag,
on hands and knees I went
I have to tell you, what a drag!
It was an Ace torment.
And when I thought I was home free,
no puddles left to wipe,
The Lord ignored my fervent plea -
dishwasher had a gripe.
It took an hour to make it stop;
Exhausted to the core,
I woke my heavy duty mop
from its audacious snore.
The contest winner will win half of the prize pool of 90.00 member dollars. In this contest at least 2 submissions must be made for the vote to begin.
Deadline: Contest is closed. Deadline was Saturday, October 12, 2013.
