When I was just a kid in '65,
weekend morning cartoons were the best.
I couldn't wait to watch my favorite one,
Yogi Bear was much better than the rest!
A funny bear who lived in Jellystone,
Boo-Boo Bear his best friend and side-kick.
Well, Yogi was a very hungry bear,
he showed each time there were pik-a-niks.
He "borrowed" picnic baskets everyday,
though Boo-Boo always disapproved.
Ranger Smith, he wasn't too happy,
at times he thought that Yogi should move.
Ranger Smith and Yogi liked each other,
But the antics Yogi pulled were too much.
It drove poor Ranger Smith to distraction,
Yogi's penchant for picnic food and such.
With pure delight I watched my favorite cartoon,
he was much smarter than the average bear.
As a small child I looked forward to him,
Saturdays, I always would be there.
They just don't make cartoons like they used to.
Innocent times? No, but they seemed to be.
How I wish they still had Yogi cartoons,
at six years old they meant so much to me.
