6. Privacy

by Debra White

There will be nothing nicer than,
when I need to ‘go pee’,
to close the door behind me and
be sure of privacy.

To know I have some time and space
to sit and do my thing,
without the fear of anybody
bleedin’ bargin’ in.

Fixed to the bathroom door, we have
a simple, little lock -
I use it ev’ry single time,
my kids, it does not block.

If they need my attention and
they need it then and there,
they turn the lock from t’other side;
crash in without a care.

They will not wait one moment ‘til
I’ve finished what I’ve started
and honestly, it’s making me
frustrated and mean-hearted.

---

I’ve bought a heavy-duty bolt
to keep the buggers out.
My privacy will be restored -
The kids can scream and shout!

Oh, to use the bathroom in peace!

In my part of the UK (Yorkshire), our local dialect is quite broad and we often miss out bits of words that we shouldn't!
