Where the roses once bloomed

by John bailey

Where the roses once bloomed,
it's now given up to overgrowth.
The roses have not been pruned,
what I once loved is now overgrown.
I've been away now for months,
I missed the spring, now
like my life I think all
has to be cut down,
To start all over again.
When love dies in a home,
the home dies also.
What once was a beautiful flower bed is
now thistles and dried up
beds where nothing blooms.
This house now only cast
a shadow of loneliness,
there is no life here.
Soon it will be sold,
and it will have no hold
on me, I will cut the roses
down, to give them new life.
And move forward with
mine,
I just came home to count
the memories,
now I have to escape
and let it go.
Where the roses once bloomed.

After forty-two years a family comes apart, everything dies,
where there is no hope,
we let it go and move forward,
this is where I am now.
