A flash of inspiration,
Some sound you may have heard
An incident, a chance remark,
The sky, a song , a bird
Take a trip down memory lane,
Search the corners of your mind
A long lost friend, a meeting place
A childhood left behind.

The time you paid a visit,
To some far off distant shore
The strangeness of its people,
And sights not seen before
The birthdays and the weddings,
The many happy hours
The many roads you have travelled,
Trees, forests, fields and flowers.

Children playing at their games
The snow, the wind, the rain
Silent nights and noisy days
All part of life's refrain.
These are the ingredients
And no matter where you look
The world is full of poetry
And life is an open book.
