Exceptional
This work has reached the exceptional level
Not complaining, just explaining

On My Last Lap

I've traveled down this road so long,
always with strong and steady feet.
Now, all who walked with me are gone.
Once more with them would be a treat.

No one to hold my useless hand.
hear my triumphs, or share my fears.
No one to show they understand
and help me dry my inward tears.

My mind is weary, pained and slow.
I know I'm nearing journey's end.
Life no longer has glorious glow,
as I enter the final bend.

In closing, let me further add,
I'm thankful for the friends I've known,
for all the good, even the bad.
It surprises me how time has flown.
