I turned around to see three bear Cubs

The black bear

by Joanne Gill-Maddick

I came upon a large black bear
My heart near stopped with horror and fear.

I stopped short in my tracks when I chanced to see, three little bear cubs staring at me.

I had a bucket of blueberries gripped tightly in my hand.

I quickly threw them to the bears and away I ran.

The black bear is quite a large animal and lucky for me I got away.

Giving the bears my berries kept me safe that day.
