Love can be feckless

You Remain My Fantasy

As I watch you watching him,
my vision starts to dim.
Tears swell within my eyes.
My breath is terrorized.

I see me, being there, being he
wishing he would turn into me,
but wishing won't get "it" done
having me be number one.

I stand chilled, unknowing what to do
watching him enjoy watching you.
I wish it was me standing all a-dazed
feeling the warmth of your steamy gaze

watching me, enjoying watching you,
saying, "you can do what you want
near me, beside me, anything with me.
Go ahead. Make your fantasy my reality.

Writing Prompt
Write a poem of any type about broken love. Any style or length.


Way back when I was terrorized speaking with girls, I fell head over heels, and stayed as such with a sophomoric gal 'til I graduated, and a few years more until the day she married this boy who I grew to... congratulate. Not really.

1-1-23 Why this leads my portfolio a year later I don't know but after editing a few words here and there, I am releasing it again, since 2/14 is near at hand, somewhat soon.
