Precious memories of home

Remembering Yesteryear

by Joanne Gill-Maddick

When I was young and so carefree with the big whole world in front of me.

I enjoyed spending time with my friends playing jump rope and hopscotch to no end.

We'd also go bike riding and spend time at the park.

My Mom would always say, make sure you're home before dark.

We'd catch fish in the little coves near our childhood home.

It was such a delightful past time the best I've ever known.

I have enjoyable memories of playing around the rocks back in the day.

Sentimental memories that are in my heart to stay.

I close my eyes and see that little girl with not a worry or a care.

My minds eye takes me back to good old yesteryear.

I see myself standing there, with the salt water breeze blowing on my face.

Oh what sweet and precious memories that can never be erased.

When back on Newtown soil I roam with my family.

Those were the best days of my life that will be forever etched in memory.
