With respect to ...

Pet power

Love and fellowship will always abound -
I'm thankful to have a loved pet around!
Because of him, I'll never lonely be …
As most people are drawn to pets, you see.
 
Many people we meet soon become friends -
Sharing stories of pets … it never ends!
The funny and loving things that they do
Make wonderful times, and worries are few.
 
But when I read of abuse and neglect,
This saddens me – people's lack of respect
For animals who need their love and care …
I can't help but frown, and weep from despair.
 
The one dread I feel as through life I go
Is that heart break will come – one day I'll know
That it's time to say a final good-bye
To a much- loved pet, and oh yes, I'll cry.
