Don't Be So Subservient

Denise’s friends were concerned when she married Kirk, thinking him to be old-fashioned and demanding. She’d told them he wanted her under his control, following behind at a short distance wherever he went.
“Don’t be so subservient,” they said.
She replied: “But I like waterskiing while he drives the speedboat.”
