Exceptional
This work has reached the exceptional level
For my strong wife

The gift of love

In my greatest times of need, 
when I've withdrawn 
deep into my infantile cave 
of emotional escape,
 
you wait..
 
When bogged with 
insecurity, 
hurling blind accusations, 
my mind a mess of 
delusional manifestations,
 
you wait..
 
Through my troubling confessions,
my wayward transgressions 
which many a partner
would surely not take,
 
you forgave..
 
When my parenting power is reduced to a pittance by the bleak darkness
of depression 
 
you always pick up the slack
 
making sure that our kids
have a reason to laugh
 
You've shown such strength
through so many hard times,
pushing through illness
and untold sleepless nights  
 
Dedicated to this family
like a great Momma lion
 
We are all so lucky
to belong to your pride
 

You shine like magical moonlight above
 
A partner like you
I'm surely undeserved of
 
I thank you from the depths 
of my misshapen heart
 
Without you 
life's whirlwind 
would tear me apart
 
And the ultimate gift
which I'm most thankful of..
 
showing this 
 
misguided soul 
 
how to 
 
   Love
