Spring Colours

An artist’s mind goes wandering
What spring colours shall I use
Brand new green grass, bright yellow sun
A sky of cloudless blue

I’ll paint some bees and butterflies
Their colours hit the eye
Family noise of girls and boys
Against the backdrop of the sky

Purple petals on the lilac tree
Sending out a scent of pleasure
People relax at water’s edge
Some fishing at their leisure

Families cooking lunch outdoors
I smell the black char in my nose
Red ketchup bottles passed around
I’ll paint one of those

The first springtime day is over
Blue skies now turn to sunset red
Thin tiny steaks as orange speaks
Time for this day to be in bed
