A country song about a truck

The Old Pickup Truck

by egomega

She's nothing much to look at,
She ain't no fancy ride
She's just an old used pickup truck
But she's my joy and pride.

Chorus:
Don't dare call her a clunker, she's more than what you see
If you call her a junker, you'll have to deal with me.

Sure she's a little rusty, her paint has lost its shine,
But for three generations, she's done the job just fine.

(Chorus)

My grandpa bought her off the lot, way back in '63,
Then gave her to my father, who passed her on to me.

(Chorus)

She took my grandpa courting and to his wedding day,
And this old truck was parked outside the day he passed away.

(Chorus)

See that scratch along her side, my daddy put it there
The day that he first kissed my mom down at the county fair

(Chorus)

Don't want no fancy sports car, no clunky mini-van
Give me a truck with history, passed down from man to man.

(Chorus)

Through loving hands the truck has come from Grandpa down to me,
And some day soon when he's a man, I'll give my son the key.

(Chorus)
