A Crocus in the Snow

by June Sargent

A crocus in the snow, she blooms,

despite the cold and hard terrain.

When terrifying storm clouds loom,

her courage helps her to sustain.

With life devoted to good deeds,

her face has never worn a frown.

While focusing on others' needs ~

my mom refuses to back down.

She smiles no matter how she feels,

despite the burdens on her back.

Her heart is full of hope that heals,

restoring strength to those who lack.

If in her mind she knows she's right,

she'll stand her ground and win the crown.

Supporting those too tired to fight ~

my mom refuses to back down.
