Playing With Fire

You musn't fear my precious child,
I'll bring to you no grief,
just knowledge toward an innocence
that toys on one's belief.

Created with a naive mind,
so fragile in your youth.
Should dare I offer such release
that wakens you to truth?

What reasoning's behind the veil,
a fruit that's so forbade,
within this garden's radiance,
that God suggests he made?

Perhaps there lies a greater worth
he fears that you might find,
that opens up the binding snares
that keeps your thoughts confined.

For I myself have savored this
sweet nectar from the tree,
and thus I'm granted gifts to view
a future I foresee.

There's nothing you shan't overcome
your mind will free of doubt.
You'll travel every galaxy
and universe throughout.

Your wisdom will be that of gods
in limitless supply.
The world will view you as a queen
that none will dare defy.

And Adam too will be your king
of worlds you both shall reign,
where history recalls in time
that Eve's your righteous name.

Yes, take the fruit I offer, child,
pay heed to what I say.
Forever man will not forget
the bite you take today.
