Life Without Love

If Love was Money, I'd be Broke

by Harry Craft

What were those words you once spoke?
was our love true or was it just a joke?
well babe, if love was money, I'd be broke
picking myself up out of the ashes

The only remaining remnants
of love's incendiary flames
always makes me wonder
how I get mixed up in these silly games

Lighitng my cigarette for another toke, I think again
if love was money, I'd be broke
drivin' in my truck on my way to work
tryin' to make a buck
and taking it all without a quirk

Sometimes it's like an old mystery movie
of dagger and cloak
because when I think of it
if love was money, I'd be broke
