the news gives me the blues

watching the morning news unfold

by jake cosmos aller

I like to start my morning right, watching the news

I drink my hot coffee, waiting for the dawn

Meanwhile, I wait for my wife to wake up

When she comes in the room, my nightmares are gone

I like to start my morning right, watching the news

Watching the news unfolding, the blues flare up

As the afternoon winds down, I drink my tea

By the evening. I need to stop and booze up

I like to start my morning right, watching the news

Watching the news continues to depress me

But sometimes the constant gloom and doom gives me the blues

When it gets too much, I turn to BB King

Listening to him sing the blues, makes my heart zing

Repetition Poem writing prompt entry
Writing Prompt
Write a poem where the same line is repeated at least three times in the poem.

A slight modified Onzain poem -The Onzain is a French form in origin, and in future posts I am going to add more examples of this form. The Dutch variation of the Onzain - Onzijn was popularized in The Netherlands by Drs. P. The good Doctor is celebrating his 88th birthday today.

Onze stands for eleven. The Onzain counts eleven lines, and each line contains eleven syllables. The rhyme scheme for the Onzain Neerlandaise:

onzijn.
a-b-c-b-c-d-c-d-a-e-e

I adjusted it to make the first line repeat at the beginning of each stanza otherwise followed the format.
