A tale of a bird who talked too much.

Sir Cheesecurd the Third

by Mike Grimes

Sir Cheesecurd the Third had a snake and a bird, two pets of quite opposite sorts.
The snake was a boa, the bird a macaw, that was prone to make witty retorts.

The bird was absurd and he overheard words and repeated them back to the snake.
"Bingo!", and "Zowie!", and "Hey Buckaroo!" till it was more then he could take!

Sir Cheesecurd the Third, having just fed his bird, was going upstairs to his bed.
He thought that he locked both the cages up tight, but they were left open instead!

So he turned out the light, then the bird had no sight! But the snake, he could still see quite well.
He slid silently from his cage into the birds, and the bird? Well, he never could tell.

In the morning,  Sir Cheesecurd received quite a shock, but for snake, this was his only option.
The snake ate the bird, Cheesecurd said, "My word!", and he put the snake up for adoption!

He packed up the snake in a furious state, and he started to scold and to curse it!
But all of the while, the snake simply smiled, then he hissed, "It sure was worth it."
