The Lonely

with glimpses of light from fading moonbeam
the stillness engulfs my every dream
ambitions of hope lay forever unwrapped
while growing in years remaining untapped

all feelings are gated except for fear
clouds blind my vision as stars disappear
upon future thoughts I tremble and weep
as memories past can't travel this deep

as loneliness builds all confidence falls
when darkness prevails and sunshine stalls
open roads once walked no longer exist
fading of friendships, acceptance persists

as I kneel to pray, no questions are found
while silence applauds exploding all round
